Tractor Started and ran for approx. 5 minutes then shut off and now it will not strart. It appears to be gertting fuel and the cranks but it will not tun over. I tried new pugs and filters but this did not help. Any ideas?
Check the Fuel Line
See if the gas is getting to the Carb.
Place a small about of Fuel on the Spark Plug (Arc) and then see if that
will help it crank over. see if the Spark plug is wet or Dry and then try it again.
I have done this with my snow blowers and it has help
and my pressure washer.
Thanks Jayson
Hi,
If I may add and if it is a conventional (carb type gasoline engine).... You have confirmed that:
Perhaps what need to be looked at is, if the fuel is being sprayed into the intake manifold from the carbs. You can try:
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.
Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
Remove the valve cover and make sure the camshaft is turning and the valves open and close while cranking, sometimes when tractors sit with fuel in them the fuel will gum up the valves causing them to stick and bend the push rods that are very small, either way you need to check to be sure the cam is turning -jeff
if this a carburated you should also remove the bottom bowl of the carb and make sure the float is not cracked and filled with fuel,, while you are in there blow compressed air thru the main jet, if you pull the plug out after cranking for a minute is it very wet and smell of fuel?, and does the motor turn over very fast or slow with a good battery? -jeff

The air filter is clean with no oil on it ?
Replace the sprak part its the faulty one 100%
Ok this is were i just give u my idea
ok when u sit on the seat and hop off does it stop?
ity can be that switch there that has gave up
is there any thing stuck in the engine, did it peirce any holes any were and over heat?
You didn't mention if you were getting a spark at the plug, has the magneto quit working?
Connect the spark plug lead to a spare spark plug, hold that spark plug against the engine block to ground it (use pliers or something to hold it so as to insulate yourself from the spark plug) then crank the engine over and see if a spark jumps the electrode gap on the plug top.
If you have no spark then you either have a bad lead or magneto problems.

Try turning the idle up a bit
How long have you owned the unit? Once I have all the needed information I can assist you further. Did you check the fuel filter I assume? Also dependent on the age it may be sediment in the gas tank.
I await your response to assist you further.

Will the mower still roll freely?
Thanks,
Lee
I would start by checking the fuse. It is usually near the solenoid inline
with a red wire coming from the battery cable side of the solenoid. Let me know. If you find any of this helpful and have a moment to accept and rate the solution accordingly it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Lee
Then the only other possibility if you know its getting spark and fuel is air. You said it is cranking over correct?
Thanks,
Lee

Usually answered in minutes!
The tractor is 4 years old and yes the fuel filter was changed and I can see that it is getting fuel.
How do I do that?
what is the best way to check it?
fuse is ok
Yes it will roll freely
I checked to see if I have a spark and there is an arc coming from the spak plug
Yes it cranks but does not start
Yes clean and no oil present
