Hi there,

Well, on my screen, your subject cuts off after the word 'were' so can't tell you much there. First thing to try is unplug both the modem and the router. Wait 30 seconds, plug in the modem. Another 30 seconds later plug in the router. After a minute or so you should be good unless there's a configuration issue. If so, reply and we'll walk you through it.

    Hi again,

I can help you through it if I have a better idea of what the problem is. As mentioned, your subject line only says 'How Do i connect i tried once all the settings were...' so I don't have any idea where the problem lies. If you can include some details we'll get you through it.

Wireless association failed due unknown reason

There's always a reason but who cares if there is a good solution. Try rebooting your wifi router and then your PC and see if the connection returns. Also try to delete your WIFI network connection. Then reboot and it should return and so may your connection! If its a secure connection check if your password is correct by opening your WIFI network connection by double clicking it and clicking on wireless properties and then the security tab. Confirm your security key exists and is correct.

Netgear extender WN2000RPT

These are a huge pain and I would recommend returning it and buying a Devolo dLan Wireless extender since they can self-configure. If you insist on using the device you have, try these steps:

1. Reset Primary Router to have NO SECURITY (you should be automatically disconnected). Don\'t just reset to factory defaults! If your ISP requires specific router configuration to connect, resetting would erase all of those settings. Simply open the router config site and remove Wireless Security. The best way to know is to Google your Router and Model for configuration instructions.

2. Reset Extender to Factory Defaults.

3. Plug Extender in (if not already done)

4. Connect the PC to the ROUTER (which should have NO security at this time)

5. Confirm that you have connection to the Internet, as well as any network devices.

6. If #5 failed;
6.a. Make sure the old wireless connection (manage connections) has been deleted.
6.b. Close all Network Configuration windows (don\'t know if this matters, but sometimes the refreshed list refused to update with new config settings without this step).
6.b. Scan for available wireless connections.
6.c. Keep doing 6.a and 6.b until the correct wireless connection is shown. In my case, I kept getting "Cielo Secured" instead of "Cielo Unsecured" (or vice versa).
6.d. When the list shows the correct connection and security setting, select it to connect to the router.
6.e. Return to Step #5

7. Now you\'re back to essentially where you were to start, sans security. Close all Internet Explorer pages.

8. Open Wireless Connections again, and disconnect from the Primary Router, and connect to the Extender. If your wireless connection list is showing conflicting Extender and Security information, follow Step #6 until it\'s correct.

9. Open Internet Explorer. You should automatically be thrown into the Extenders Auto Configuration wizard. Follow the Wizard instructions until it\'s finished. When it shows the security settings, make sure that it\'s set to NONE.

10. Once the wizard is done, and you\'ve clicked on the "finished connecting" button in the Extender config, make sure you save the Bookmark as suggested - you\'ll need that later when you add security. Now, check your wireless status.

Hopefully it will show "Internet", not the pesky "Limited Connectivity". Open the Network & Sharing screen to verify there is no dreaded Red "X" between your Extender and the Internet. It may take a few minutes for the Internet status to update.

11. If Step #10 failed, start from Step #1 again, making sure that each device has been configured with NO SECURITY.

12. If Step #10 was successful, take a moment to step back and perform a 2 or 3 minute Chicken Dance in honor of the Computer Gods. .... Or, maybe not. wink.gif If nothing else, at this point you\'ve proven the Extender will work, even if unsecured.

13. Now, go through Steps 4 through 12. This time, though, configure the Router to the security level you wish.

14. Since we\'ve already configured the Extender once, use the Bookmark saved in Step #10 to re-open the Extender configuration site. Click on "Exit" when it opens if it wants to run the Wizard again. It may also guide you through updating the firmware if that\'s necessary. Let that finish before continuing.

15. MANUALLY configure the Extender by first selecting "Connect to Existing Network". If all things are set correctly, it will eventually ask you for the security key for your Router. Enter and continue.

16. This time, when it\'s done, it should have updated the configuration for BOTH devices using the Network Key you just entered. You should see an updated Extender security setting summary screen. Re-connect to the Extender (wait for the status to show Connected, then click on the button at the bottom. The Extender Status screen should be displayed.

17. Open the Network and Sharing screen to confirm there is still no Red "X" between your network and the Internet.

18. If Step #17 was successful, open Internet Explorer and confirm you can access the web. Yippee!!

19. If Step #17 failed, then the auto-config screwed up again. Click on "Wireless Settings", and manually configure the Extender to match what you set on the Router. Return to Step #17 to confirm that resolved the issue.

Fair warning, this will take a long time to accomplish. Netgear in my opinion is the worst brand on the market for wireless!

Internet not connecting

  • Under settings on the tablet enable the wireless radio.
  • Once enabled you should get a list of available networks, select yours.
  • Enter any password you have.
  • If you get an authentication failed message and you know your password is correct, try disabling security on your network and try again. Some tablets have a problem with security especially those running ICS.

I cannot connect to the internet.. it is either failed connection or authentication failed. help.

Thanks for writing in regard to your concern about unable to connect to the internet. Let me help you with this.
The problem would be on your Netwrok Settings. First, you need to have the correct GPRS or Internet settings which is compatible to your phone. All you need to do is to call your network service provider and they will send the settings on your phone directly. All you need to do is to save the settings. Once you have received the settings, please do try accessing the web. Please make sure that you have enough balance as well as network signal to connect to the internet successfully.

Also, you may check for the wed address or URL you are accessing if it is correct. Please check the spelling as well as the spaces in it.

Lastly if you have the settings, you may try clearing your browsers cache and cookies.

If have queries, dont hesitate contacting us back.

I am unable to browse iternet, it showing massage that cannot connect for an unknown reasons please check your internet setting and change them if needed . currently i am using htc touch diamond (cdma)

Hi,

There could be many reasons for your problem.
1. If you use proxy server, make sure the server and the service are up and running
2. If you use proxy server check the Internet options and look for the correct values in the required fields.
3. If you use wireless router check the connection to the router.
4. If you use router check the network configurations. Many of the routers have internet connection test. So login localy to the router interface and check the connection.
5. If everything above is correct try pinging a website from cmd. Open command prompt Start->Run->cmd. Write the command "ping www.google.com" (without the quotes). If you have ping look for application that blocks the http traffic on port 80. If the result is "Request timed out" try to ping 209.85.148.104. If you cannot ping any site or computer outside your network, then you have to call your provider.

It shows me always limited connectivity

First try to determine whether you can connect to the Internet loadTOCNode(2, 'workaround'); You should first try to determine whether you can connect to the Internet. If you can connect, the error message is obviously incorrect. If that is the case, you might want to disable the error message. To disable the error message, follow these steps.
  1. Click Start, and then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type ncpa.cpl, and then press ENTER. The Network Connections dialog box opens.
  3. Double-click Local Area Connection, and then click Properties.
  4. On the General tab, click to clear the Notify me when this connection has limited or no connectivity check box.
  5. Click OK, and then click Close.

Check for other causes and solutions loadTOCNode(2, 'workaround'); If you cannot connect to the Internet, you have to find the reason. Realize that the reason may not be with your computer, but may be an issue with your Internet service provider (ISP) or with issues on the network at your work. Therefore, for some of these solutions, you might need help from your ISP, or, if your computer is part of a network at work, you may have to ask your network administrator for help. Contact your ISP service loadTOCNode(3, 'workaround'); If you use an ISP to connect to the Internet, before you go any further, first contact your ISP to see whether it is experiencing any problems. If the ISP has problems, wait until the problems are resolved before you continue to troubleshoot. Check the hardware devices loadTOCNode(3, 'workaround'); If you still cannot connect to the Internet after you have confirmation that your ISP is not experiencing any problems, manually check the hardware devices on your small office network or your home network for problems. For example, if a hub, router, modem, or access point is installed on your network, check that it is connected correctly, and that it is turned on and functioning properly. The solution might be as simple as turning on or restarting a hardware device, and then restarting your computer. For more specific troubleshooting information about the hardware devices that you are using, refer to the hardware documentation for your devices. Run the Network Diagnotics tool loadTOCNode(3, 'workaround'); If checking and restarting your hardware device did not resolve the issue, your computer may have a networking problem. For example, your computer may not have an IP address or your TCP/IP settings may be corrupted.

There are tools available in Windows XP that you can use to help you diagnose and troubleshoot networking problems. To use the Network Diagnostics tool to determine the source of the issue, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Help and Support.
  2. Under Pick a task, click the link to Use Tools to view your computer information and diagnose problems, and then click Network Diagnostics in the list on the left.
  3. Click Scan your system. The Network Diagnostics tool collects configuration information and performs automated troubleshooting of the network connection.
  4. When the process is complete, look for any items that are marked "FAILED" in red.

Note If you do not see any categories that failed, please see the "Additional troubleshooting information" section for more information about how to troubleshoot network problems.
  5. Expand a category to view the testing results. For example, to check the results for TCP/IP settings, expand the Network Adapters section. Then, check whether a network adapter has failed.
  6. You can use that information to try to resolve the issue yourself, or you can provide the information to your network administrator for help. If you are not sure how to use the results from the Network Diagnostics tool to resolve the issue, see the "Next steps" section for help.

Xbox live

Are you sure that your connection to the internet is working? I would check it out on my comp first because it sounds like it could be that simple.

If it is, then go to your dashboard and run a quick diagnostic.
On your dashboard click System
Then click on network settings
Then click test Xbox Live connection

This will show you where you are not being connected. Once you see a failed sign click more and you will be taken to a page where you can try a few quick fixes they have suggested.
