Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
I was one of the lucky (unlucky?) souls who received a first gen PS3 back in '06. Here's the issue that I have run into. The machine turns on, the fan starts, then the fan turns off and no audio or video. The machine grabs DVDs/games, and ejects them, but nothing appears on the screen. Thought maybe it was the hard drive, do I went to Fry's and picked up a 120GB hard drive. No go. I'm frustrated to no end, and no one seems to know how to fix it. Note: I've tried to holding down both buttons, waiting to beep trick. IT DOES NOT WORK!!!
Hello. There are a few causes for this. I will list acouple solutions for you.
Here is the simplest way to reset the defaults and be sure you did it correctly.
1. Reset the Video Output Settings. While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive On/Off button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light to --> green light --> then back to red light) This will ensure that you have held down the On/Off button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings. Once you turn it back on, it should work fine.
2. If option 1 does not work call Sony because the video out chip has blown or come unsoldered.
I hope this helps. Good luck to you.
