Question about Refrigerators
I have a whirlpool side by side refrigerator, model 22RF. I bought it used and it was working properly according to the previous owner. I plugged it into a GFCI outlet and it trips the outlet. I have disconnected each component at the electrical connector and the outlet still trips. Any suggestions on where or how to isolate an electrical wire short?
SOURCE: fridge problem
You may have a short some where in the fridge. If you have a multimeter, I would suggest metering the power leads to the compressor. The compressor may be bad, if you find no shorts in the metering of the power leads.

sometimes with age the GFCI may start to get weak from continous current heat/cool--expansion/contraction.A regular outlet is fed by a circuit breaker which may have a higher amperage rating. If you replace the GFCI it may take care of the problem. The only fuse I can think of will be a circuit breaker in the fuse panel.Hope this helps. Does this happen say- every 6-8hrs? If so you may find the defrost element has a short, or defrost timer is faulty. Defrost element is located in the freezer compartment, Time located an back of fridge.. Use a qualified person when playing with electrics...Cheers

Yes ,, if the fridge outlet is behind the fridge and therefore not accessible for use by counter top appliances .. then yes change it to a regular outlet.
The cause is probably the compressor, getting a bit noisy..electrical noise I mean.
