Why does my computer make a long beep sound when booting up?

When a PC Boots up, it goes through a series of tests called
"power-on self-test " or POST.
If an error is found, the O/S will produce a specific tone or tones.
For example, It may be 1 Short and 1 Long. This tells the user what is wrong and why the PC won't Boot properly.
Take particular notice of the exact series of beeps.
To decipher the message, you should know what BIOS your PC has.
Otherwise, Google "POST beeps" and you should be able to figure it out.

Six beeps at post and no joy with boot up

The exact meaning of the beeps for Dell depends on their... rhythm.

Six beeps might indicate a simple CMOS failure caused by a bad battery, which is easy to replace.

My sony has systm error 32

Hi, Can you pls give some more info: System 32 error after POST before Windows or System 32 error, after windows partially booted? Offhand, if the error is after POST before Windows boot, it is a hardware problem based on motherboard built-in diagnostic program: you may have to check/repalce reseat/connect memory, video card, hard drive; If it is after Windows partially boots, then chances are it is a driver problem; try running in safe mode and check at which points it stops or hangs. Hope this give you some idea. Pls post/comment back if you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
