My gas dryer has no heat. The ignitor glows orange and lights the burner. After about 15 seconds the burner goes off. After about 1 minute the igintor glows orange and lights the burner for about 15 seconds again. It does this over and over. I replaced the coils and flame sensor. What else could it be?

Try disconnecting the vent from the dryer temporarily. If it runs better the venting is restricted somewhere.

My gas dryer wont ignite. where do I start trouble shooting

Model number would help but I'll give some general info. Most Kenmore dryers are usually made by Whirlpool so I'll give info for that type dryer. The 1st thing to check on a no heat is if the glow bar ignitor is coming on. At the cycle start it should glow red hot or orange. If no glow the glowbar may be burned out and needs replaced. This is the most common problem in a gas dryer. If you see the orange glow for about 15 seconds and it goes out ---that is normal. That usually means you may have a bad magnetic coil on the top of the gas valve. There are actually 2 coils on the valve and if either one goes bad the valve will not open and let gas through to ignite. They need tested with a multimeter. Thats the 2 most common problems with gas dryers.

Kenmore gas dryer #41793142300 electronic start doesnt heat up

if you first have heat and then like 10 to 20 minutes later no heat you could have bad gas coils,on most gas dryers there's a plastic cap you can pop off on the front panel so you can look in and see the ignitor,if at first the ignitor glows orange and the flame lights then after a few minutes the ignitor glows orange and the flame doesn't light you have bad gas coils, they are located on the top of the gas valve, easy to change.part number 5303931775 go here and look at part 71

Turns on but. Will not heat upb

The areas that come to mind is the ignitor and/or sensor has gone bad The most unlikely is the gas valve but it is a possibility. I check for a thermal fuse on your model It does not come with one. That eliminated another cause.

Attached is a picture for reference.

When the dryer is turned on, the ignitor ( #74) will start to glow and in a few seconds to a bright orange color. The sensor ( #79) which is located on the outside of the flame tube, detects the heat intensity from the ignitor. Once the ignitor has reached its limit when operating correctly, the sensor will give a signal for the gas valve to open and release gas through the burner where the ignitor will light the gas. This process repeats several times when drying a load.

Defective ignitors will either have no glow or the will glow a little bit.

Hope this helps you out.
Always you caution when working on appliances.

I have a gas dryer that the igniter plug glows, but does not light the gas. One time when I had the front panel off the gas ignited and the dryer heated, but only burned for a minute then shut off. Now I...

with front off it will short cycle. If ignitor glows and then goes out without lighting, you have bad burner coils. The 2 black round things on burner assembly. Unplug unit then unplug coils and remove bracket with 2 screws. install coils and test.

Model LG8219W2 On initial start up igniter turns on and flame is ok, after heats up and cycles the flame does not reignite,I can see the igniter glow red but flame does not return. the igniter contiues...

HI. This will essentially be an issue that concerns the gas valve coils. With that said, I will post below a complete burner assembly procedure that will help you isolate the culprit. I'm sure that the coils will fail the test, but to be safe, follow the procedure to confirm.

Gas valve/Burner testing procedure:

On the gas valve are one or two coils (solenoids) used to open and close the valve to control the flow of gas. If a coil fails, gas will not flow and the dryer will have no heat.

The easiest way to diagnose a problem in the burner assembly is to observe the burner operation. Remove the small access panel at the bottom, front of the dryer, select a high temperature setting and start the appliance. Watch the burner assembly, shortly after starting the dryer the ignitor should begin to glow. Next you should hear the click of the gas valve coil and a flame should ignite. The flame should be mostly blue and it should remain on for a minute or more.

If the ignitor glows for several seconds (up to 15 seconds) and then goes out, the problem is probably the coils (solenoids). If the ignitor glows and stays on, then the problem is usually the flame sensor. If it ignites and then quickly goes out, it is most likely a problem with inadequate air flow.Test the coil for resistance using a multimeter. Set the multimeter to the ohms setting X10. Place a probe on each terminal. The multimeter should change from a reading of infinity to roughly 1300 ohms (+/- 150 ohms) when the probes touch the terminals. If the reading is infinity or substantially different from 1300 ohms, the solenoid should be replaced.

Click Here to access a exploded diagram of the burner assembly. The affected coils will be labeled number 15 and 10. The actual coil and valve assembly will be labeled number 11 and the burner will be labeled number 9

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.

if you dryer is gas check out this gas no heat tip....

If you have an electric dryer, you can have many different things that can go wrong causing the dryer not to heat.

Whirlpool gas dryer Model #WGD5530SQ0 not heating properly

If your dryer heats when you first turn it on and after a few minutes it does'nt. check the ignitor to see if it is glowing. It should glow bright then you will hear a click and the burner will light. If the ignitor glows bright but you hear a click but no flame and if you watch this for several minutes and this process continues of glow then glow goes out no flame, then you have a bad burner coil. There are 2 black solenoids sitting on top of gas valve. One of them is shorting out after it warms up. Replace both solenoids. You can usually get them as a kit from parts store.

No heat on whirlpool LGR4632EQ2 gas dryer

Well there are two main sources for this to happen # 1 The igniter can go bad if you can view the burner area turn unit on and watch for glowing ignitor,< takes a few seconds > if ignitor comes on and goes off without lighting burners then #2 flame sensor,< located on burner rail it attaches with one wire>, remove the one screw holding it on rail and remove,< clean it by scraping with sharp knife or something with an edge to it until it appears to be fresh metalic look. replace and try again and if this does not work then gas valve is probably source of failure.
