I am planning on buying this

I have genuine XP Pro CD for installation
Can I just use the XP CD to change the operating system

You can try but don't get your hopes up. Some laptops now are designed for VISTA and VISTA ONLY.

I want to upgrade my WiFi card to a N (300bps) one and bought a 512AN_MMW; however that is not supported by my notebook (msg 104). What to do?

My suggestion would be remove the 512AN_MMW, then update the BIOS.
The latest BIOS is 20, once you update the BIOS install the 512AN and see if it solves the issue.

Please suggest the graphics cards compatible with the Intel D915GVWB motherboard.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7091795&CatId=1603

64-bit interface, 200 Stream Processors.

You WILL need a minimum of a 400 Watt power supply, though.

One example,

I wouldn't spend any more money. If you do, you need to get a better motherboard first. A motherboard is the 'Building Block' of a computer.

A PCI slot (White) is the best graphics expansion slot you have.

I need to locate a mother board for a firelite model #USBFLB40-C any suggestion? Or where can I get a new USB power data plug soldered on the old board? Thank you.

Yes I would take the Harddrive out of the SmartDisk FireLite external harddrive, and install it into an economical external enclosure.

Looking up reviews just now I know that it's a laptop sized harddrive that's inside.
(The Harddrive inside is 2.5 inches across in width. 2-1/2 inches)

I don't know however if it is an IDE or SATA unit.
But you will know once you get the case open, and view the Harddrive inside.

One example of a 2.5 IDE external enclosure,

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1086960&CatId=2782

One example of a 2.5 SATA external enclosure,

One example of an external enclosure that will support IDE or SATA harddrives that are 2.5,

Hello, quick question: I have a totally broken IBM laptop, and I've removed the hard drive, which is a 40GB Hitachi Travelstar 5400RPM ATA/IDE: Exact model#: HTS541040G9AT00 I'd like to copy the...

Yes! There is such an adapter. Look here for IDE/SATA to USB: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2329300&CatId=3770

Obviously, you don't have to buy this product or buy from Tiger Direct; this is just an example of the type of product you're looking for.

If you're comfortable working inside your desktop, then you should check out this product which is much cheaper: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2329310&CatId=3770

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa.

LOOKING FOR COMPATIBLE VIDEO CARD W/ HDMI OUTPUT FOR THIS MOTHERBOARD TO RUN W/ 64 BIT WINDOWS 7

You would need a PCI card for that. here's a few links for PCI video cards with a HDMI output/connector:
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6463726&CatId=3670
or this one, its a lil better but make sure that your computer can handle it (mainly the power supply, needs to be above 400 watts!)

What is the best graphics card for my SR1502HM compaq computer.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page, and observe the motherboard illustration, and photo,

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00257657&tmp_task=prodinfoCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=501966

The best graphics card expansion slot on your motherboard is an AGP slot.
(The motherboard also has 3 PCI expansion slots)

It is an AGP 8X expansion slot.
[Scroll back up in the chart to the heading > Graphics connector (AGP) - 1 AGP 8X ]

These are a few examples of AGP 8X graphics cards that will work.

Intel D845GRG no video!

HI madpanic_att, there is no jumper for the onboard graphics card,
82845G Graphics Memory Controller. If you add an AGP video card it must be 1.5volt compliant & can only function at a max speed of 4x. The Intel motherboard will automatically detect the AGP card & boot the card. If you no longer have your manual, click on this Intel link & download it; (Bottom of page).
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=824&OSFullName=Windows*+XP+Professional&lang=eng&strOSs=44&submit=Go%21
You will need Adobe PDF reader to view the manual.
You can download Adobe for free at this link;
http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/
Look & read page 16, (Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) in manual & PCI Auto Configuration. Bios configuration, see page 53,
(Video Configuration Submenu).
See a list of 4x AGP cards at this next link; http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=318&SRCCODE=WEBGOOVID&cm_mmc_o=7BBTkwCjC-p8ByplCjCabTwyKbywgfCjCmH4L
Remember the AGP graphics card can only run at 1.5volt in your Intel D845GRG board.
Example, here is an AGP card. Notice the separations between the contacts. (This is an 8x card).
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1776106&CatId=318

This next AGP card is 1.5volt, see the contact separations.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4103516&CatId=318
This is also an AGP 1.5v card;
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3570059&CatId=318

If you add a PCI card you will not have to worry about the 1.5volt limit.
Here are some PCI graphics cards; http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=319

Good luck madpanic_att!
