Normally this problem is caused due to loose capacitors on the powersupply.also check if the capacitors hve bulged up .if u find them bulged then replace them .it should solve ur problem.

for any further queries feel free to ask.
thanks

There are a couple of things that can cause this problem. First thing to do is try and find the two big power supply capacitors marked C809 and C810. Make sure that the negative side of these capacitors is not loose and unsolder ed. If one of them is, resolder the lead and replace fuse F860. If this does not look like this is the problem, unsolder the convergence IC's and see if this is the problem. Most of the time though the IC's are shorted and both has to be replaced as a pair. Try resetting the lamp timer. Unplug the projector, hold the menu, on/standby and input buttons, and plug the projector into an outlet. The 3 main lights should come on and stay on (on/standby, lamp and another one).

Then unplug and replugged the projector. It should power up.

The problem could be related to a high voltage shutdown cause by a failing or defective power supply and a horizontal deflection failure.
This failure is not a DIY due to the danger of working around high voltages is excess of 30Kv.

This is well known problem with the Toshiba line, the problem is in the vertical deflection circuits, it causes the picture to collapse to a flat white line, the vertical output ic and two to three capacitors need to be replaced to correct the issue.

Black Box on screen

By your description it sounds as though the closed captioning option has been turned on on the TV. Only certain programs are CC capable and that accounts for the box moving from channel to channel as some broadcasts are not CC CAPABLE. Go to the menu on the tv and ensure closed captioning is disabled. This should resolve the issue. If you need more help please let me know.

This isn't an expensive repair for a qualified shop - but I would suggest not continuing to test your shutdown circuit. What's happening is that HV (high Voltage) is builds beyond tolerances and the shutdown circuit turns your unit off to keep from causing any severe damage. If it failed you could likely burn out the SMPS or cause some substantial damage..

Toshiba TV/DVD combo turns on then off again.

try letting it sit for 15-20 minutes unplugged from the wall and maybe try another outlet depending on if u got plugged in to a power strip, possibly pulling to much power from that perticular outlet.
