Question about Samsung Televison & Video

1 Answer

Samsung LED DLP 50" has a green cast on entire screen on all inputs. It cycles to red then back to green. Customer adjustments no effect. I assume the light assembly needs replacement. Any guidance appreciated. Thanks- Joe Amaro San Ramon, CA

Thanks for the help. Comment; not everyone's a tech so a quick explanation on terms like 'blown caps' would help the layman grasp it in one sentence or less.

Try a reset. Start by unplugging for 1 minute, then plug back in & if still won't restart try the following. If none of the following work, you will need a technician.

Initializing the TV in many cases can remedy a problem.
In the 2006 product line Initialization is now a user function.
Pressing the front panel "INPUT' and "FORMAT"
buttons at the same time activates Initialization. When
complete all user settings will have to be set again. The

Dlp tv color goes fuzzy and green

Its probably unrelated to lamp, take the lamp out, try it again and look into the lens, if its still very green the projectors electronics are failing. The projector generates pictures as 3 streams of info Red Green and Blue. It looks like the projectors red and blue electronics are failing, but the green is working.

I Have A Samsung DLP 61 Model HL-T6187AS and Serail- AHEK3CKPA01439H and It Has No Red What Could Be The Problem

Most likely problem is the Red LED (pt# BP07-00023A, substitute BP07-00029A) $96.68 https://www.encompassparts.com/item/7806544/Samsung/BP07-00029A/Led_Display-red
OR http://www.shopjimmy.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=BP07-00029A

& or the LED driver board (pt# BP94-02321B) $170.00 includes core https://www.encompassparts.com/item/7696533/Samsung/BP94-02321B/Assy_Pcb_S-led_Drive

Don't forget that if you are using component input cables it could be your Red input line either faulty cable or not plugged in all the way on either end.

The entire picture area has a green tint. Adjusting the red/green levels doesn't help . The problem seems to have happened overnight. We were watching it yesterday and everything was fine. Now everything...

How old is your lamp? This isn't likely the problem, but they do tend to go out over time. This could also be related to the colorwheel motor going out or the DMD board sending a faulty signal. I would suspect this to be about a 200-300 repair. The diagnosis process is going to be hit and miss. How attached to the tv are you? :)

Picture is in reds and greens

Try doing a "factory reset". This will "burp the baby". Turn the set on and ignore what you see. From the side control panel, push the volume+ and channel+ buttons in synch. This will take you to a base OSD (on-screen display) that can best be compared to the BIOS on your PC. The real goodies are here.

On the OSD, you'll see "picture", "audio", and "advance". Using standard navigational input on the remote, go to "advance". Tab down to "clear all". The set will appear to turn off, but the front LED will remain blue. The set is re-formatting the on-board memory and will restart in a few seconds.

Your panel should now restart as normal, but will be returned to factory "burn-in defaults". Your color and audio adjustments will be lost, so you'll have to do some fine-tuning in the regular OSD menu. Cycle power to the TV after you have made the desired adjustments.

TIP: Perform the factory re-set a second time, then select "picture". Toggle down to "video format". You might find it set to "Pal". Change this, using standard navigational input on the remote, to "NTCS" or "AUTO". Cycle power to the TV after you have made the desired adjustments. The TV will now perform at a refresh rate of 60hz, the American standard. "Pal" is 50hz, the EU and Asian standard. The improvement to image quality will be noticable very soon, as both your eyes and the set adapt to 9.94 hz improvement. NOTE: You may need to fine-tune the TV again after making this change.

Good Day, Butchilee,
Sounds like you have patience, hope your TV has some trace left. Hit recommends that you replace the originals with
STK-392-150's and the resistors. Replace said items with care then back down on the screen/ focus controls and gradually bring the screens up until you have pic, adjust focus. Go into customer menu and adjust color down, set brightness to 50%, contrast to 100%. Then go back and adjust the screens for proper, black/white, tracking. AND It's best to double check the soldering connections.
Good Luck, Big Irish.
