I have a lexus es 300, 2002. the check engine light jest came on, and i had it checked at autozone. P1135 code came up, "Fuel sensor heater circuit malfunction". the print out said there could be three possible causes: 1, open or short circuit condition; 2, AF sensor heater relay fault; 3, Failed AF ratio sensor. I dont know what to do ! Replace the 'Fuel sensor heater circuit', or could the malfunction b caused by the above three referenced "Probable cause". and would jest replacing the fuel sensor, fix the problem, or do i also need to see a macanick to look/fix the three causes ? please help !

#1 stay away from Ottozoo. #2 have a good repair shop check it out. Most likely the A/F ratio sensor (oxygen sensor) is bad. the BLACK wire is power for the heater, so if the BLACK wire has power, replace the A/F ratio sensor.

Air sensor check engine light

Ok as a guess that you have a SUV and you have different air faults. if you are a DYI'er go to an auto parts store and get an error code tool. Harbor freight for $30-50. Hook it to the car and find out which sensor is it calling for. Note, you can reset the check engine light on most tools that are not the cheapest.

Error code P 1135. what part needs to be replaced?

P1135. Air/Fuel Sensor Heater Circuit Response. (Bank 1 Sensor 1).

The P1135 code on your Toyota is Air fuel ratio sensor - heater circuit malfunction. Basically the problem there will be with the air/fuel ratio sensor (on other vehicles it is refered to as an O2 oxygen sensor), or the wiring/connectors leading to it. It could also be a problem with a fuse or relay on the heater circuit. Again, not a real difficult problem to solve.

Now, to specifically answer your question. I'm not familiar with the inspections in New Jersey, however just fixing the P1135 code will not cause the check engine light to stay off because there are other unrelated codes. If the code P1135 was causing the other problems then perhaps fixing that code would fix the others, but that's not the case here. The reality is you'll need to have all the problem areas looked at (IAT sensor, MAF sensor, Air/fuel ratio sensor) and repaired in order for your engine light to stay off. Normally if there are codes stored a vehicle cannot pass inspection. I would get a second opinion from another local mechanic as what you've been told may not be 100% correct.

Good luck.

I have 3 codes 1) P0500 2) P0125 3) P1135 1999 Lexus RX300

The PO125 is an indication of an engine running too cold-as if the thermostat were stuck open. For some reason it often sets with the PO1135 even when the engine runs at normal temp.A scan tool will indicate exactly how hot the engine is,don't trust the dash gauge. The PO1135 is a heater circuit fault in the bank1 sensor1 air fuel ratio sensor or oxygen sensor. Bank 1 is the REAR bank on this car...that O2 sensor is not much fun.PO500 is a vehicle speed sensor fault-does the speedo work correctly?it is located in the transmission near the back of the case. once again the scan tool will read vehicle speed and can aid in further diagnosis.

99 lexus es 300 chk engine and trac lock lite on

I had check engine light and TRAC OFF. OBD-II MIL code was P1133 which is Air Fuel Ratio Sensor Response Malfunction and scanned by AutoZone. After disconnecting the battery for 10-15 minutes, the lights went off. I cleaned the gas cap and tightened it firmly. For the last 400 miles, the lights have not come back. When scanning using Snap-on one, no code was detected. I think gas cap was the reason for the lights.
