Question about DCS CMO-24-SS Convection/Microwave Oven

Need to replace melted carousel coupling

I ordered a new replacement coupling for my microwave thinking that I could figure out how to get the old one out and put the new one in by simply looking at it. Well, no such luck. I can't figure out how to get the old one out, much less how to put the new one in without using "excessive force". Any help would be appreciated.

You need to remove the bottom cover if it's an over the range model.

If it's a counter top type, there should be a cover over the turntable motor.

On many Sharps, the turntable motor cover comes as an unseparated part of the bottom cover and you have to use sidecuts or snips to cut away the little tabs which hold it in place. Then when you are done, you use a screw to hold the cover back in place.

All this is best done with the microwave on its left side with the door opened, and the turntable and support removed. (Power off, of course).

Once the cover is off, you remove the two screws holding the motor, pull the motor out, then pull ou tthe old coupler.

Install the new coupler with one hand, and push the motor in place. Jiggle the couple as you do so it will mesh with the motor shaft.

Once it's in, replace the motor screws, replace the cover and you are done.

I think the problem is just coincidental to the lamp replacement.

i would say there is grease or food debris on the turntable support or turntable motor coupler.

The service manual is here and you can order parts from the Pros here.

Is the carousel in magic chef microwave worth fixing

If the machine is several years old I would opt to have it replaced, repairs would equal if not more than a new microwave oven.

My sharp carousel II microwave no longer heats food. Do I need to buy a new one?

The problem maybe the magnetron, or the inverter board if 7 years old or less, and possibly the keypad control board, by the time you add parts and labour cheaper to replace the microwave oven in the long run.

Sharp Carousel convection/ microwave. The turntable/ motor coupling has broken where can I buy one? I live in White River Mpumulanga. My e mail adress is richardtaggart@msn.com

Looks like you have the purchase the glass tray in order to get the coupler. I would give Reliable Parts a call though phone # is 1-800-666-0313. Give them your model number and the name of the part you need.

GE Advantium SCB200/SCB2001 electrical odor

Some liquid may have gotten down in the turntable motor or it may just be going bad. It may also be the coupler. This is not an unusual problem.

It's not too hard a job for the DIYer. Unplug it from the wall, remove the cover underneath to access the motor screws, then the couple and motor will come out.
