Question about Samsung HL-R6168W 61" HDTV
I have always gotten great pictures for Football games and movies where the picture is very bright, but for dark movies, like The Godfather, there is a shadow and blurring effect. I have and HD reciever and am using HDMI connectivity. The same effect happens when watching TV or DVD's, Live or DVR. It's almost as if the TV has an easier time distinguishing shades of color than shades of black. I have a similar issue with a relatively new Samsung DLP: color smears to red in dark images and there is little detail in darker scenes despite much fiddling with the adjustments.
If you are getting the same problem with both TV monitors it could then be assumed it's an input problem to the TV monitor. If you are using a digital output from your receiver it could be the cabling. If you are using an analog output from your receiver it is probably coming from the receiver.
Digital video processing does have issues with darker scenes.
Can you try another video source seperate from the receiver like a DVD or better yet an analog VHS, if you still have one. Good luck and let me know.
