Question about Garmin nuvi 350 GPS Receiver

1 Answer

Garmin nuvi I recently turned on my Garmin nuvi after not using it for close to 5 or 6 weeks. When I turned it on this came up; Do you really want to erase all user data, with a no/yes option. I have tried several times turning it on and off and every time I turn I turn it on the same question pops up. My Garmin will not respond to either no or yes when I press it. Is it time to pack it in and get a new one or should I salvage this in some way shape or form. I like my Garmin and cannot afford to purchase a new one so any informationyou can share with me to fix this would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Matt

Unfortunately, the suggestions that you gave me with letting the battery die out was already tried and it did not work. I will email you later about it. Your suggestions were great and they probably would have worked if I this thing had less issues.

    thank you,

    Matt

Hi Matt,

That function normally comes up when you put your finger on the upper right corner of the screen and hold it there while you turn it on.

Have you tried pressing the reset button under the antenna?

    Matt,

It is possible that the flex cable could have gone bad. Has it ever been dropped? The reason why I ask this is because I have seen the cables come loose inside. If the cable is loose, it will not respond to any commands and is probably stuck on the last screen.

The only thing I can recommend for you to do is to let the battery run down and try to reboot it after you have put it on the charger for awhile The proper way is to disconnect the battery but you need to get inside to do that I don't recommend that if you don't have the right tools. There are (3) flex cables inside that can be torn if you're not careful.

If you don't have any luck, please email me and I'd be happy to take a look at it and tell you whats wronng with it. I have references.

The following solution is available on Fixya:

1:Turn the Nuvi on.

2:Touch the tools icon on the main screen. The tools icon is represented by a wrench surrounded by a blue circle.

3:Touch the "Settings" icon which appears as a wrench.

4:Push the "Restore" button at the bottom of the screen. A confirmation message will appear asking to confirm restoring the Nuvi to factory settings. Push yes to restore the factory settings.

Try this for hard reset .

Turn off Garmin device. Press down on bottom right corner of the touchscreen [ Don't let go ] , and then power on the GPS unit. You should be prompted whether do you really want to erase all user data, or asked if do you really want to start up in maintenance mode. If I found a garmin nuvi gps it got a locked on it how can I reset it or something

Most GPS navigation devices from Garmin has a reset function which allows user to access a Maintenance Mode screen with system information, diagnostic details or perform the reset function to restore Garmin Nuvi or other series unit to its original default factory settings.

Depending on which model of Garmin GPS unit you're using, the following routine can reset the Garmin device to original factory loaded settings, or bring up the Maintenance Mode with access to System Information and View Diagnostics screen, where users can see various logs, and of course, clear all user data (reset to factory defaults) or clear Waypoints.

In order to reset Garmin device or enter into maintenance mode, perform one of the following procedures:

Power off Garmin unit. Press on continuously the upper top left corner of screen and then power on the unit by pressing once on the Power button. You should be prompted to clear all user data, or asked if do you really want to start up in maintenance mode. Press "Yes" to reset (warning: all data will be erased and lost, so backup before proceeding) or enter maintenance mode.

Hack above works on Garmin Nuvi 660, 680 series.

Turn off Garmin device. Press down on bottom right corner of the touchscreen, and then power on the GPS unit. You should be prompted whether do you really want to erase all user data, or asked if do you really want to start up in maintenance mode. Press "Yes" to reset (warning: all data will be erased and lost, so backup before proceeding) or enter maintenance mode.

Trick above works on Garmin nuvi 200, 250, 360 750, 760 series unit. In fact, there is a video demo by user of Garmin Nuvi 360 on how to perform the hidden reset function.

Hope helps. (remember to rate and comment this answer).

Garmin won't come on

plug it in to the wall charger or car charger for about 4 hours, then slide and hold power button for up to 15 seconds till it starts.

if that fails, unplug the nuvi then press and hold the lower right hand corner of the screen until you see the message " Do you really want to erase all user data?" remove your finger from the screen and select YES. (this will erase all your saved data) this should reset your nuvi to the factory settings.

use the web updater to update your nuvi once you get it started again.

you can get it HERE

let me know if you need further help.

My garmin nuvi works as a stand alone, but plug her in to computer or car power and all you get is a screen showing garmin logo and a picture of it connected to a computer.

Hi

You will need to reset your Nuvi as it is locked into computer mode. To reset it - depending on your version see below.

On some Nuvis there is a recessed master reset button on the body of the unit which you need to access with a nib of a pen or bent paper clip.

For Nuvi 660/680 series
Power off Garmin unit. Press and hold the upper top left corner of screen and then power on the unit by pressing once on the Power button. You should be prompted to clear all user data, or asked if do you really want to start up in maintenance mode. Press “Yes” to reset (warning: all data will be erased and lost, so backup before proceeding) or enter maintenance mode.

For nuvi 200, 250, 360 750, 760 series
Turn off Garmin device. Press down on bottom right corner of the touchscreen, and while holding it power on the GPS unit. You should be prompted whether do you really want to erase all user data, or asked if do you really want to start up in maintenance mode. Press “Yes” to reset (warning: all data will be erased and lost, so backup before proceeding) or enter maintenance mode.

If the above fails it is likely that the problem is not with the Nuvi but the charging unit which is not signalling the unit properly and the Nuvi is recognising it as a USB cable instead of a charger.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate my answer. Many Thanks.

Turn off the device, push and hold in right-down corner on the display, and turn on the device. Hold your finger on the display, until you see "Do you really want to erase all user data?" message. Then click "Yes"...

Hint:
All private data will be erased. The user POI's too. You can backup the file G:\Garmin\gpx\current.gpx before erasing procedure.
