SOURCE: looking for a schematic of the Casio ctk-700 to

The keyboard is LIKELY scanned as a matrix.

You have two problems:

The contacts in the Thomas will have to be totally disconnected rendering use of any of the Thomas organ unlikely.

The second problem is that the keyboard LIKELY has velocity sensing. This means TWO contacts must be used PER note. One contact "makes" first and "breaks" last. This is used for velocity sensing on synths. The Thomas foot pedals likely only have a single contact per pedal, and even if they had two, it is unlikely they sequentially close..

The matrix scanning is accomplished by sensing the connection of two crossing points on a matrix of circuit lines. USUALLY each of 12 wires tie to all of one note across the board. Then two other lines for each octave "strobe" the first make contact and then the second of those strobes the second make contact. There are two of these strobe lines for EACH octave on the board.

Remember that these lines scan at digital logic speeds so wire length and NOISE/STAIC DISCHGARGE PROTECTION is a must.

SOURCE: not able to connect to USB MIDI of my Casio CTK 810i

On reading specs, use of the USB is NOT supported on a MAC or on other than the 32 bit version of Vista. If you happen to have the 64 bit Vista, it won't work. All the other versions of Windows seem to be supported..

SOMETIMES one must install the software BEFORE connecting the USB cable to the unit. SOMETIMES one must install the drivers in SAFE MODE. These things are ridiculous, but some of the quirks of Windows are stupid.

SOURCE: Casio CTK 810 with Windows 7

Hello,

You need a midi to usb interface, otherwise it is quite simple. I personally have an M-Audio interface that plugs into my midi out and plugs into your usb port on your computer. Once done, you can create a profile in Reason for your CTK. Windows 7 will notice the M-Audio device and then you will be able to use midi. You may have to install a specific driver for the particular M-AUdio device (or another midi to usb interface) but that is simple. You do not have to worry about a driver for the keyboard.

In my experience, M-Audio makes about the best midi/usb interface, and they come in all popular configurations. I use a very small 1-to-1 interface, though there are multi port interfaces one can buy. I purchased mine on eBay, though you can find them at Guitar Center if you have one in your City, or alternately Musiciansfriend.com web site. Many online stores sell them though. You amy want to use Amazon or a price comparison web site to find your best deal.

Thank you for using FixYa, and good luck.

LOOKING FOR A MANUAL

Most Casio keyboard manuals are available from their support page: http://support.casio.com/en/manual/manual.php?cid=008&MODULE= . Here you will need to accept the Casio terms of use. Then scroll down to the correct model. The direct link to the User's Guide is currently http://support.casio.com/en/manual/008/CTK4000_5000_EN.pdf . Casio also has an appendix and documentation on the MIDI standard on the Manuals page for the CTK-5000.

I hope this helps.

Ctk-651 sustain pedal working backwards

Buy sustain pedal made for CASIO or switable model.
Pedal for Yamaha or Roland will work in reverse on a Casio.
If you cannot return for exchange, then open up and solder a different type of micro switch.

Casio CTK-651 keyboard wont switch on

An internal fuse is UNLIKELY.

More likely is either a bad connection/connector at power input or a bad or intermittent power switch.

My casio 496 cannot connect to fruity loops

Unfortunately your model of Casio only has midi in and not midi out. You will be able to use it as an external sound module but not to input notes into Fruity Loops. In other words midi out of your computer to midi in of the Casio with the proper settings will play your Fruity Loops sequences through the Casio.
