Question about Dishwashers

Open Question

My Maytag Dishwasher MDBH750AWW will not turn on. Pressing the key pad on the top front does not activate the controls. I traced the wiring and found it is active in the door latch assembly, which I recently replaced. Question: 1) If I purchase a new Control Panel exterior white key pad, which is linked to the interior Control Board, should that solve the problem? Or,2) if I purchase a new exterior Control Panel finger touch pad, and an interior Control Board, will that solve the problem to activate the controls? Or, 3) Do you recommend another solution? Thanking you in advance for your advice, I am Don.

If there are no lights on the control panel then initially check if connections to the panel are fine.If they look fine then you definitely need a new control panel. No need for a new touch panel. Its always that the control panel goes faulty, not the touch panel.
you can also check for competitive rates from local dealers and few sites like--repairclinic.com and applianceparts.com
thanks.

On kitchen aid dishwasher, control lock is blinking and preventing the use of any other execute buttons. Can't start a wash .

Which model KitchenAid dishwasher do you have? On some models, the Control Lock can be toggled on/off by holding the Energy Saver Dry touch pad for at least 4 seconds or until the Control Lock light turns on or off.

On another model, the touch pad to press and hold is the 4 Hour Delay button. (On that model, you press and hold for 3+ seconds.) There is often a very tiny label below or on the touchpad indicating which key controls the Control Lock.

If you haven't held the button for long enough, pressing the other touch pads will lead to the Control Lock light blinking 3 times if the Control Lock is active.

If the press and hold method still doesn't work after several attempts, then you may have a problem with the control panel. The dishwasher may need repair.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the model number so that I can check if a different touch pad key is the correct one for the Control Lock.

Most of buttons on touch pad are not working.

This was posted in another maytag qs300 thread there are 2 ways to fix the front panels on these dishwashers. My advice fix it as cheaply as possible and save some cash to get a better dish washer because these newer maytags are just plain awfull.

Quick fix for dishwasher from hell.
What I found was to turn off the breaker to the dishwasher, unscrew the inside panel ( about 12 Torx screws ), remove the black cover on the computer ( 1 hex head screw ) remove the ribbon cable coming from the front panel by easing down the plastic locking tab, then take a soft clean cloth and gently wipe the end of the ribbon cable (both sides) and reinstall. This keeps our machine working for another couple of month, when I go thru the same exercise again. I think it is condensation that makes the ribbon cable connection bad or short across two of the lands.

Permanent fix for dishwasher from hell.
The flex cable shown in the pictures above was bad on my unit also. It looks to me like they are pulling too much current through this cable to run all the LED's on the front panel. Mine died the instant death so I removed the touch pad and traced out the wiring.

The start/cancel switch is a connection between pin 6 and pin 10 on the ribbon cable. There is a 10K resistor in series with the switch to limit the current.

I tried to order the part from my local parts house and was told it was a special order only and would take about 4 weeks to get. Later I found you could purchase it off the internet and not have to wait quite as long. Since the replacement part is the full plastic piece across the top of the door I decided to try a mod. The touch panel is just glued to the plastic piece so I removed it completely. That leaves some glue that will need to be cleaned up but I can do that later.

I found a C&K momentary push button switch that fit in a 1/4 inch hole. I drilled the front panel in the center to accept the switch. If you moved it to one side it might not conflict with the latch switches quite as much but I made it fit.

I then looked in my junk box and found two pieces of 18 gauge wire and one 10K resistor. I put the resistor on the normally open pin on the switch and then connected a wire to that. The other wire went to the common pin on the switch.

When you look at the control board the pins are labeled as 2 on one end and 18 on the other. You only see every other pin as there is another row that is buried. You need pins 6 and 10 so they are on the visible row. Use a small soldering iron and connect the two wires up to those pins. It does not matter which one goes where.

Put it all back together and push the button. You do not have all the flashing lights or options but I am now washing my first load of dishes in several weeks.

When the unit was running it quit the display went blank? is there a fuse somewhere, all i can find is a printed control panel. DU1055 model.

Does it function at all? If not it's prob not the fuseable link. I'd put money that you have a bad contriol (the circuit board has shorted). I have the same model. Mine shut down during a wash cycle - totally dead. It has power but doesn't function. The wiring diagram (located down on your kick plate) explains how to test various components. Two things you can do when the unit has power but is dead - Turn off the power to the unit. Open the door and unscrew the six screws that hold the top of the dishwasher together. The front top control will now be loose. On the backside there is a gray cover. push the tabs back and remove this cover - make sure the power is shut off at the breaker). Under the cover you will see your circuit board and a bunch of wires. There is a 14 pin connector that connects the circuit board to the key pad. push the tabs back and lift out the circuit board. carefully unplug the 14 pin connector and leave it unplugged. Put your circuit board back in and install the gray cover over the controls - leaving the 14 pin connector unhooked. install the six screws - basically putting the thing totally back together. Leave the dishwasher door open and turn the breaker (power) back on. Count to five and close the door. If you have a bad key pad your dishwasher drain motor will cut on and run for 2 min. If the control is bad (the circuit board) nothing will happen. The control is fairly easy to replace - costs around $122 bucks for parts. Hope this helps!
Oh yeah, if you want to check the fuseable link it's the round thing on the circuit board - has two black wires going into it. MAKE SURE the power is turned off at the breaker before you mess with this.

My maytag fav68000 is displaying 2 cycles at once; it won't change or shut off

This could be an issue with the control board. I assume you have recycled he machine 120VAC power to turn off machine. If that did not help I would check to see if the control board will let you get into Service Mode.
Try this close the lid and try to enter the Service Mode by pressing and holding the Enviro Plus and Spin Only keys for three seconds or the display reads “00” Pressing the Delicates key will lock the lid. Now press the Presoak key the drain pump will turn on do you hear it run? Stop the test with the off button or hit the Presoak key. If you can get into Service Mode report back and we can try getting into the machine diagnostics mode.

If your FAV6800AWW will not let you get into Service Mode I would next replace the Control Board. The Control Board is under warranty for 5 years. Call Maytag at 1-888-462-9824 to see what your next step may be, I got them to send me the control board.

Do you have surge protection on the outlet powering the machine? Have you had any storm activity in your area recently?

Maytag quiet series 300 no power to touch controls

We have the same problem of not being able to select a wash cycle, or the 9 min rinse keeps flashing.

The handle is another problen, I have changed this 3 times.

Went out this weekend and bought a Bosch.

Control buttons don't work, Help.

donnson, sounds more like the touch panel shorted or stuck keypads. You can remove the touch panel ribbon from the control board and try to clean it with an eraser. You will need to remove the torx screws and remove the inside panel. See if it comes back to life. Behind the toe-panel on the bottom, there should be a tech sheet showing how to check the key pad. The key pad and control board are warranteed for 5 years on this model, parts only. Catriver..post back.
