If its onboard sound its possible that it could have been disabled in the bios, seen this a few times where someone had a sound card in previous, press f2 when the pc starts up and check to see if you can find the onboard sound option, if not you might need to buy a cheap sound card

restart your pc, press F2 and you will be in your bios, be carefull what you change. look for onboard sound and see if its enabled. can you confirm it is onboard or a soundcard aswell please

  • mark hudson Sep 17, 2008

Why is there no sound coming from my speakers?

If you hear no sound coming from your speakers, there could be several reasons:
1) Check to see if the speakers are powered on.
2) Check to see if the cable is plugged into the speakers and the green jack in the back of the computer.
3) Check to see if the speakers are muted in Windows. Do this by clicking on the speaker icon in the system tray. It has a place to check to mute the speakers.
4) Check to see if the sound devices and drivers are loaded. To do this go to the control panel and click on "sound." Then click on the sound tab. Choose one of the Windows events that has a sound associated with it and preview the sound by clicking on the arrow to the right of the listing. If the arrow is dark and when you click on it the sound seems to be playing, then the drivers and sound card should be functional. If the arrow is grayed out, then your sound drivers are not installed. In either case, try reinstalling the sound drivers.
5) If you've tried all this to no avail, try with another set of speakers.
6) One thing that may work is to do a system restore back to the time the speakers were working.
7) If nothing works, I would suspect that you have a bad sound card. Unfortunately, these days sound is integrated into the motherboard, but you could install an add-on sound card.
I can't seed to get my speakers to work. I have UBL pro speakers.

1. Check the Audio icon on the task bar if muted. If yes Unmute Go to start > control panel > sound. and make sure that nothing is muted.

2. Sound Diagnosis refer this photo

3. Re install the audio drivers. LINK
4. If steps 1-3 don't work, then take your speaker to your friend's computer and see if it works there? if yes then something is wrong in your computer system, if no, then something is wrong in those devices.
Refer to this image below. From your speaker the 3.5mm jack should be plugged at back of I/O ports LINE OUT.

Bought a new computer but my speakers won't work. They worked on the old one. Do I need to download drivers?

Hello there:
I dont think that you would have to download any drivers unless you had to do it with the other computer.
what you may want to do is make sure you are connected to the right plug in and you can even try to play a cd and move the plug in from one hole to the next and if still nothing try this
go to control panel and go to sounds and then make sure that the sound devices are there and are not muted but if you get the error saying no audio device than you will have to download a
sound driver in that case i highly recommend downloading vinal ac 97 this is a free sound driver and mixer utility that works verey will with various operating systems ok and if all of this still does not work you may want to try a new speaker ok?
I hope that this is very helpfull for you
best regards michael

Zwinky just won't work anymore...

In most cases, if you do everything right and nothing works, you have a virus.
Do an update and run a system scan with your program. If that doesn't work, go to here and allow it to do it's thing. It will take a while but it may work.

No sound

Have you checked to see if any of your audio mixers are muted? You can do this by double clicking on the speaker icon in the lower right corner of your monitor. Check to make sure none of the 'mute' buttons are selected. Good Luck

Why the speaker does not work?

it could be a number of things, most likely is that the sound driver is not loaded or is out of date or corrupt. Go to the sound card creators website or if you do not have a sound card, then go to the motheboard creators site and in either case, go to suppport, drivers o downloads link on their site and download the most up to date drive, then install that. Otherwise check your sound options and make sure that your speakers arent muted. If this doesn't work, let me know and we'll see what else might be happening.
