If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen
Check the ribbon-cable between the motherboard and the LCD screen. It is not transmitting 100% of the video-information.
Be sure that it is not "crinkled", and that it is tightly connected at each end.
check the display properties for dual monitor settings in
display properties>settings> check all options
I think it is set for external display u change to dual display. then both displays can work. or there is some display symbol of some function key. check that and press
hI, if the screen is completely white the problem could be a bad LCD cable. To cross check if the problem with the LCD or the motherboard. Connect an external monitor to the laptop. Tap the Fn + F8 key together to get the display to toggle to the external monitor if the display comes on the external monitor without any problems the problem is with the LCD and you would have to take the laptop for repairs.
Hello, While your computer is booting up, look for a "press [key] to
enter setup". That key will be the one you want to get you into the BIOS
settings. It can be a number of different keys, so if your POST screen doesn't
show it, try DEL,
F1-10 Go to BIOS setup, then boot fromUSB Drive. After that restart your system.
Then automatically windows XP will boot from your pen drive/USB drive.
If you have already hooked up an external monitor absolutely its the ribbon cable connecting the LCD to Laptop If its less then a year old get the warranty for replacement
Its possible that the LED light that illuminates the screen is dead. If you look very closely can you make out any information on the screen or is it absolutely black? If you can see text or Windows, then its likely the backlight.
If you cant, try plugging an external monitor in to see if it is even booting. Also look at the HDD light (bottom right of the keyboard) to see if it flickers on and off while starting. If there are no lights, then you may have a dead unit... Get er fixed.
with the external monitor attached press <FN><F8> to toggle between internal and external display. if still nothing then it sounds like the video card.
Well it is most likely a issue with the Video driver as you are able to boot to the safe mode.I would suggest going back to the safe mode and deleting the present driver for the video from the device manager.before you restart the system just download the latest version from the support.dell.com so that you can reinstall it.Also check in the graphic properties which screen is set to be the defuat.Incase still not working i would suggest reinstalling the operating system before replacing any hardware.
I deleted a aol program and when it restarted the screening kept complete black
