Question about E-Machines eMachines Desktop PC

1 Answer

Emachines w3609 My emachine w3609 was working fine one night and when I turned it on the next morning, it would turn on but my monitor said no signal and it wouldn't do anything. I got online with tech support and they said to reseat the ram, which I did, still no go. Then they said I would have to buy new memory which I did, a kit of 2 x 1 GB of ram. I put it in and still nothing for a total of 12 times. Then they told me my motherboard ram slots were dead, and I would have to get a new motherboard. Is this the only solution? I am still under warranty, but they said if it was caused by a power surge, I would have to pay them for checking it out. I am not going to spend the money to send it to them, then pay them for checking it out( if a power surge was the cause) and then pay them to fix it. Could there be something else I could do before I spend a lot of money I might not have to?

It has inbuilt Intel Graphics Media Accelerator with available PCI-Express slot, which we did put a pci-express video card in it and it still did the same thing. Any more ideas?

Hey iluvyakatu

Does your emachine has inbuild video card or AGP or PCI card? if one it has AGP or PCI card try to reseat it. If it is inbuild try to use AGP card or PCI card and see what happen. Also try to check whether you have an inbuild video and AGP or PCI both installed, if you have both try to use one of them.

good luck

Worked fine last night, discovered it this morning still turned on but no signal to monitor. Rebooted and it began a consistent beeping with no signal to monitor. Unplugged several times to no avail....

the beeping is coming from the cpu.

1 unplug pc
2 pull out ram chips
3 use an eraser to clean the gold, yes thats gold

what happens is the gold on the ram oxidizes and does not connect properly and can go bad but cleaning it with an eraser sometimes works. take a cpu that is working unplu it pull the ram and you will see the same thing your other pc is doing.

4 reinstall ram (correctly)
5 boot up cpu

I bought a used Emachine W3609 and it only came with a Starter Guide. Is there a regular Manual available for me to study on how to use this computer?

I have checked the emachines website and have the following links for you.

Specifications for you W3609
http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=W%20Series&model=W3609

Drivers for you W3609
http://www.emachines.com/support/drivers.html

Unfortunately, I don't find a manual for your W3609.

If we can help with a specific problem, please let us know.

Computer not communicating a signal to monitor

You can fix that by getting a new graphics card
I'm assuming you have a T3830 emachine.
here's the link to replace video card

Manual needed

Hello,

Here is the website for emachines support. It as free files with information about your system as well the information to call the company about the user manual. If the person who repaired it removed the manual, you could ask them to replace.

Won't turn on

Seems that your CPU-Cabinet is not giving the video output for your monitor. Please check the powercord and other internal assembly (if possible) that runs in and around the cabinet and restart the machine.

Emachines W3609

No - that is, not unless you replace the motherboard. It isn't designed for the new processor.
