At the top of the brake pedal is a mounting bracket that holds the pedal in place,, on that mount, and the pedal, is a bushing that goes bad,, the hold down bolt goes right through it, if this bushing is bad, it will allow the pedal to move slightly from side to side, if however if your pedal has a lot of movement,, you need to check the bracket in total, follow the brake pedal up under the dash,, and check the mounting bolts

My shifter locks when i've just turned the car on and try to shift from park to drive. It moves to the right a little bit, but will not move down into reverse. Ideas?

There may be a malfunction in the shift interlock sys.
This sys. keeps the shift from being moved from park
unless the brake peddle is depressed. There are 5 fuse's, directly or indirectly related to the interlock system. Fuse #6 15amp in the fuse box under the hood on the left side. The next 4 are in the fuse box
behind the left side of the dash. Fuse #3 15amp/fuse
#18 15amp/fuse #16 20amp and fuse #4 15amp.
Check these first, before you move on to the brake
light switch, under the dash at the brake peddle.
And the shift lock solenoid, under the console left of
the shift lever. Hope this helps.
