Question about HP Printers & Copiers

8 Answers

I have an HP Photosmart C5280 All-in-One Printer, Scanner, Copier. I had a paper jam, which has been removed. However it keeps telling me there is a paper jam and will not work. I have had the back off the top up looking with a flash light and I can see no further jam. is there a way to reset the printer? or some thing more I can try?

How long have you owned the printer. If after troubleshooting you still have the problem. It may be the best Idea to have a professional take a look at it. As an issue like this is not terribly difficult to fix by a professional. If you need assistanc locating the nearest authorized service center let me know.
Thanks,

Well there is definitely a paper piece stuck somewhere in the printer you have to look into it very carefully, you can use a compress air or a vacuum to blow air into the printer that will blow away the stuck piece.

May be the sensor which detects if there is a paper jam or not is slightly moved from its orignal position so it is continuosouly telling that there is paper jam witout any jam.the sensor is located on the back of the printer.slightly tab on both the sides of the printer it may come in its exact position if some thing is blocking the sensor .its black in colour, its very thin, its very delicate.so do it carefully.tapping may help so please try tapping slightly on the printer.

1. Turn the printer off and open the access cover.
2. Look for any obstructions in the paper path and remove them if necessary. (It is possible to move the carrier assembly with the power off.)
3. Turn the printer on, load some paper, and press the Form Feed button.
4. Watch the paper as it feeds through and try to determine where the jam is occurring.
5. Check to see if all the rollers are turning.

If all the rollers are turning, there may be something in the feed path that you can't see. Go to step 6.
If not, there is probably a feed motor or a gear problem and the printer may require service.
6. If the paper is jamming under the carrier assembly, you may be able to fix it using the manual feed slot.
7. Turn the printer off.
8. Take a #10 envelope and feed it through the left side of the manual feed slot until it comes right through the printer to the back of the exit rollers.
9. Move it up and down first, and then slowly move it over to the right side. If something is stuck under the black guide plate, this may work it loose.

A paper jam might result if photo paper is specified in the
    Document Properties
    dialog box
but plain paper is loaded in the product.

1. First, clean your printer. Get some spray-n-wipe cleaner and a clean cloth and clean the entire inside of the printer. Also ensure your paper isn't dirty. Now print a test page. Does the symptom persist?
2. Remove all jammed paper. Check the paper tray first. Look closely at the paper rollers nearest where the paper exits the printer; this is a common source of jams. If you’re trying to print labels, they will often jam just before exiting the printer.
3. Try to print a test page. Does the printer still jam? If you can find no source of the jamming, check the printer's message display window and refer to your user’s manual to look up the printer error code.

if you still face the problem then try this:

    1. Check the printer and/or the software to see if "manual
feed" is selected. If manual feed is selected, the printer may be
looking for paper in another tray.

    2. Re seat paper. Ensure printer is on-line. Check for paper jams or obstructions.

    3. Likely suspect: paper-out sensor is damaged or broken. Consult a computer repair shop.

You can also try to open the back tray of the printer from where you feed your paper. Check for the bits of paper which might be jammed in the rollers. I beleive that the paper was stucked in the printer and u tried pulling out that paper in pieces. So don't panic and relax and do the work. check for the bits as those are not allowing the rollers to roll and the printer is thinking that the paper is jammed.

    Hope it helps.

if you still face the problem then try this:

you need to have the key combo for this one..

    simultaneously press
    cancel and power
then there will be a prompt in the lcd to enter a key combo

    the key combo is
    grey then blue then green
    after pressing the combo key
    a menu will pop up
browse that menu until u see the reset option..
    the legends are:
    gray=scroll down
    blue=scroll up
    green=ok

Paper jamed

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. Perform the steps below in order to solve this incidence:
  1. Disconnect the power cord or power supply adaptor from the rear of the HP All-in-One product.
  2. Remove the paper pack remaining in the input tray.
WARNING - Do not try to remove the jammed paper sheet yet. Trying to clear a paper jam from the front of the device can damage the print mechanism. Always clear paper jams through the rear access door.
  1. Open the rear access door or the two-sided printing accessory.
  2. Gently pull the jammed paper sheet out of the rollers.
  3. If the paper tore when it was being removed from the rollers, check the rollers and wheels for torn pieces of paper that might remain inside the device. If not all the pieces of paper are removed from the device, paper jams are likely to occur again later.
  4. Replace the rear access door or the two-sided printing accessory.
  5. Restart the printer to continue the current job.

HP C5280 printer jams all the time at the same point in the page

More than likely there is a small piece of paper caught between one of the small rollers and the metal frame that hold it. Get a flashlight and look real good.

My HP photosmart c5280 keeps saying there is a carriage jam. what is this?

Lift the printer cover. undo the 2 screws (torx head). remove the right hand end of the printer casing.

You will see a blavck plastic moulding with a couple of gears (it controls the cartridge cleaning). This is the cause of your jam - it is out of sync. Turn the machine on and watch what happens with this moulding you will see what I mean by out of sync and it can just be gently pushed back into alignment. Once it is ok turn the unit off and then on again and your jam should be cleared. Put it back together again and print away.

Make sure to check all the way to the right and left inside. I ussually find paper loose in either of those ends. Then check your encoder strip which is the plastic strip that the carriage slides on. This may be dirty causing this issue. Use a soft paper towel and alcohol. Windex is okay to but may leave streaks on it and give same issue.
