When the details to print appear on screen and the print button is clicked a further tab appears which asks details to save. Any information given on this tab (which is not needed) is ignored and any attempt to close it also cancels the print request.

Thank you for your e-mail. I have not corrected the problem but decided I would wait until
a family member, more technically aware than I, can come in and perhaps find it may
be something simple.
Thank you for your concern. Mrs J Taylor

Re Canon 2600 printer.I recently purchased a black Ink cartridge and replaced the old one. A week later the color cartridge also shows empty even though I hardly use color. Can I not print in greyscale...

Hi,
Please follow the instructions below from Cannon support page...

Setting the Ink Cartridge When printing, you can specify which ink cartridge to use. This is convenient if one of the ink cartridges becomes empty, you can continue printing by specifying the ink cartridge that still has ink. Note:
  • When the following settings are configured, Black Only is disabled. The color ink cartridge is used to print.
  • A type of paper other than Plain Paper is selected for Media Type on the Main tab.
  • Borderless Printing is checked on the Page Setup tab.
  • Canon recommends that you use the ink cartridges installed in the printer and not remove them until the ink runs out.

You can set the Ink Cartridge Settings from the Maintenance tab in the printer driver.
To access the printer driver from the application software, click here.

I just installed a new color cartridge in my 8650 Lexmark printer. The ink cartridge acts as if it is empty. Printer keeps telling me to align cargridge. Worked perfectly before the new ink installed. Not...

  1. On your computer, go to "Start," "Programs," "Lexmark Series." Click "Lexmark Control Program."
  2. Step 2 Select the "Cartridges" tab. Click "Change Cartridges." The Change Cartridges screen appears, displaying the animated instructions for installing or changing cartridges. When you have finished viewing the animation, click the "Finished" button.
  3. Step 3 Remove the tape covering the print head of the new print cartridge. Insert the new print cartridge as shown in the animation.
  4. Step 4 When the "Choose Cartridges" screen appears, select the cartridge(s) you installed in your printer from the list boxes. Click the appropriate box to reset the ink levels to full. Click "OK."
  5. Step 5 The Automatic Alignment screen appears. Click "Align" to align the print cartridges for best print quality. The printer prints a page with a bi-directional alignment pattern. On the printed test page, locate the number that comes closest to forming a straight line under the bi-directional alignment pattern. Enter that number as the bi-directional alignment setting in the Alignment Cartridge dialog box. Click "OK."

Dell 3100 won't shutdown keeps restarting

Hi

the problem and few solutions are well explained on this microsoft page.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/russel_02may13.mspx

I would recommend you try the first option.

1.
Right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
2.
Click the Advanced tab.
3.
Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings to open the Startup and Recovery dialog box.
4.
Clear the Automatically restart check box, and click OK the necessary number of times.
5.
Restart your computer for the settings to take effect.

Now if there is a error while your computer is shutting down, you will get a blue screen with error details and it won't go ahead and restart on its own.

If you do get a error please post me the details from it and alteast the first set of 0x000... numbers from the left, the ones inside ( ) are not a must but may be helpful.
