Reseting the lamp timer. Error message saying: 'Change Lamp' on Hitachi CP-5X 5600 projector. A new lamp has already been changed but we cannot get rid of the message which appears on the projected screen every time it is on. Please help, Thanks Sri Aitken

    Did not help but thanks for trying.

    I tried pressing the reset button (projector must be on) for a few seconds. The system will then recognise that a new lamp has been put in. It seemed to work, half hour since then it is still okay ( no more 'change lamp' message on the screen)

How do you reset the lamp hours counter?” and “How do you get into the service menu?” I don’t know if the service menu is a big secret or not, but since I’m not the first to publish this, I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.
For those inclined to get into service mode on DLP TVs, simply turn your system off, then use the remote and press the following buttons with about .5 to .75 seconds delay between presses: MUTE-1-8-2-POWER.
Once in the service menu, select the bottom item, Options, and from there you can reset the lamp counter.
I’ve never played with any of these settings. I’d strongly caution against any “curiosity tweaks” in there.
I turn on the set, it tries to turn on the lamp, but gives up after several attempts and several seconds. Finally it ends up with three blinking lights
I think the most common cause of this problem is a faulty lamp. If you have replaced the lamp, or otherwise have reason to believe that it is not the lamp, it may be the ballast (the thing that starts up the lamp). You can purchase a ballast at a good price at partstore.com. (approx $140 vs. $180 at samsungparts.com)

Hope this may help;

Thanks for Jangro site source;

I replaced the lamp, but am unable to reset the lamp so that the projector works again. It keeps giving me the message that I need to replace lamp and reset timer. And then it turns off.

1. Switch power ON, and press the TIMER button on the remote controller, or the RESET button
on the control panel, for approximately three seconds. The 'LAMP xxxx hr' message will appear
on the lamp timer on the bottom of the screen.
2. Press the MENU button on the remote controller, or the RESET button on the control panel,
while the lamp timer is displayed. The 'LAMP xxxx ? 0 CANCEL' message will then
appear.
3. Press the and select 0, and wait until the timer display is cleared.

Resetting the air filter timer

If you do not have a remote here is how to reset the filter time. Use the "Menu" bottun to get the "easy menu" to display. Push the down arrow until you get to "Filter Time," then push and hold the RIGHT arrow to reset the filter time. DO NOT try to reset using the "Reset" option on the easy menu, it will not work.
