I had the same error message E071. Had to call out an engineer who diagnose the Drum 701 was leaking toner - this got on the electrical contacts at the bottom of the drum. He cleaned the contacts on the drum and in the machine - put my old Drum in there and all is OK. The drum was 9 months old and not had much use so I am trying to get a replacement from Canon under warantee.
Did you change the Magenta stater/ developer? A E020 code is saying that the toner desity is low. Try replasing the developer and run the ATDC for Megenta and see if that helps. You may have a problem with the developing ass'y it self. You may be able to take another colors dev. ass'y with the hopper open and see if the code goes away. The sub code 0124 means that it is the Magenta dev. ass'y
