'Waste ink tank near full' Canon MP390

Hope you don't mind my approach for possible help!

This otherwise excellent equipment has now the above message and will not function. Remedy offered by Canon is engineer visit to change tank which will be more than the cost of a new replacement all in one printer/scanner/copier. Before I commit it to the recycle dump do you have any info on how to change and/or empty this tank which is apparently related to the head cleaning process?

Hey there DrKeith

Click here for a page with a better solution than canon provides. You'll have to scroll to the bottom. But there is all sorts of useful info on the way down. So if you have the time, some of it may be useful to you also.

The procedure described resets the counters. It is detailed, easy to follow and much less expensive.

If you run into a problem, hit that ask button again. No worries.

Have a great day
Mike

My Canon MP390 Printer has come up ''Waste Inn Tank nearly full'' What should I do

CANON printers "compute" the "fullness" of the waste-ink container, based on the number of pages printed, and the "density" of the ink on each page. So, this calculation has produced a "nearly full" prediction. Take the printer to a qualified technician.
They will empty the waste-ink container, and "reset" the electronics in the printer, back to "zero-per-cent-full".
