If you are on Windows, you should be able to burn a file onto a CD, just not onto a DVD. Did you want to put it on CD?

If so, the manner in which you do that would depend on whether you are using Vista or XP, but both are basically the same. There are a couple of basic ways to do this. If you only had one file to copy, for instance, you could right-click on the file, and in the options that come up, choose send to CD drive (direct CD or something of that nature - would include the drive letter). Then open another My Computer window and open the CD/DVD drive. You wll notice that the choices are different from those you often see when dealing routinely with "regular" files. At any rate, one of those choices will be to write (which = burn) the files to CD. Once you have placed all the files you want on the CD in the window, make sure you have a writeable CD in the drive, and choose the option to write the files to the CD.

The second way of doing this basically is to open both My Computer windows at the same time, and drag and drop files between windows until you have all the files you want in the CD drive window. Burn the files and you are ready to go!

If you do not feel that you can rate at a "FixYa", please post back with more information regarding what has occurred subsequently and/or more details regarding the situation, and I will gladly help you until we have reached a definitive solution. If it is not registering in your OS as a drive and doesn't map in BIOS then the drive is bad and needs to be replaced. It's about $25 USD from or there are other brands around the same price.

How to run extension .nrg

This is a CD/DVD image file, created by Nero Burning ROM application. You need to get hold of Nero application to be able to burn a CD or DVD from that image file.
Alternatively you may look for other, free applications that can burn a disc from that kind of image file - one of them is here: UltraISO.

Burning files to DVD..............

You should be able to fill a DVD with files and burn using Nero.
Open Nero Smartstart ,Set to DVD,data, make Data DVD
then open a browser window, ie press the windows flag key and "E", locate the directory of files you want to burn, drag them into the Nero page. You should see the progress bar at the bottom of the screen gradually move towards the 4500MB position - this is the maximum for a DVD.
When you have listed all the files you want to burn, press next, change the disc name if you wish. Your DVD drive should be listed above the disc name - something like E:ASUS DRW-1608P3S ( this is my drive) then press "Burn"
If all is well, the drawer will open and you must insert a blank DVD into the drive. The files will then be written to the the disc.

If it does not work let me know and we can investigate further.
