If you are on Windows, you should be able to burn a file onto a CD, just not onto a DVD. Did you want to put it on CD?

If so, the manner in which you do that would depend on whether you are using Vista or XP, but both are basically the same. There are a couple of basic ways to do this. If you only had one file to copy, for instance, you could right-click on the file, and in the options that come up, choose send to CD drive (direct CD or something of that nature - would include the drive letter). Then open another My Computer window and open the CD/DVD drive. You wll notice that the choices are different from those you often see when dealing routinely with "regular" files. At any rate, one of those choices will be to write (which = burn) the files to CD. Once you have placed all the files you want on the CD in the window, make sure you have a writeable CD in the drive, and choose the option to write the files to the CD.

The second way of doing this basically is to open both My Computer windows at the same time, and drag and drop files between windows until you have all the files you want in the CD drive window. Burn the files and you are ready to go!

My ASUS DRW 2014S1 which reading dvd but not cd. what's the reason

Reason:
Drive optical Lens is getting Weak either by dust and dirt or Wear and Tear degradation. First it stops CD reading and then DVD reading as well its normal behaviour

Solution:

If the drive is Internal type for Desktop you have the option to clean the Lens through CD lens cleaner with Brushes installed over the surface of CD.

If the drive is Tray type for Laptops then you have a better option to clean the Lens Physically open the Tray take a Micro Fiber cloth or you can take a Tissue Paper see the Eye like Crystal round thing that moves when you load CD this is Lens , please just take the Tissue paper and clean the lens with your finger Gently in Circular Motion do not use extreme force.

If it helps then ok otherwise you have to change the Drive now its about time

Please Rate me if i helped

I have an ASUS DRW-2014L1 dvd writer. somedays ago it has been dead and now if i enter any dvd or cd into it. it shows no disk in the drive pls insert a disk. now what can i do? A.B. Siddique

If it is not registering in your OS as a drive and doesn't map in BIOS then the drive is bad and needs to be replaced. It's about $25 USD from www.newegg.com or there are other brands around the same price.

Asus 2014s1 writes a dvd disc that it does not later read. but the slave dvd reads it. this happen with phillips+R, verbatim+R. I already downloaded and install firm software 1.01 but nothing changed. also...

I recently experienced the same problem. The cause is the drive itself is starting to fail. It will continue to degrade until it stops functioning completely.
The only thing you can do is replace it.

The drive doesn't read cds but can read dvds!!

If you have access to the lens clean with a tissue or micro fibre cloth In circular motions gentle 10-12 swirls and then try the drive if problem persists then your drive lens have got weak need to replace drive. You have to remove the top cover of drive with 6-8 small screws. It first stops cd reading and then DVD , it's normal. Pls rate my solution if I helped.

Here is the link for the ASUS downloads.

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
Choose Optical storage then DVD RW then your model number

The DRW-2014L1T is a DVD-RW and the drivers are incorporated with windows drivers. Are you looking for the burning software, like Nero or Roxio? Or is the unit not working at all?

My email is jdaniher@verizon.net.

The above internal burner not picking up blanck dvd-r

strictly speaking this is the correct response from your writer, as the disk "is" blank. Your DVD burning software, Like cloneDVD or Nero, should recognise the "blank" and then allow you to burn your disk image. you need to check that your DVD/CD authoring software is installed correctly and updated for all the latest features.
