Question about Maytag Neptune Washer
I have a Neptune Washer that I purchased in 1997 or 1998. I had the door lock problem, the serviceman replaced the control board and other than that have had no problems with the machine. A couple of days ago I started the machine, it began filling with water and after about 30 seconds it shut down completely. I turned it back on and it quit again. I checked the control board and nothing looks burnt. I took the front panel off and checked the fuse on the motor control board and it appears to be OK. I then proceeded to remove the JP4 connector, started the machine on a 6 hour delay and could not hear the motor start at all. Since I heard nothing it seems as if the motor is dead? I thought perhaps that when I had started the cycle, it began to fill, and when the motor should engage to spin the drum as the water is filling, that because the motor wasn't working it just shuts down the machine? If this is the case, should I replace the motor and motor control? Just the motor? Should I continue on with the voltage test on the motor control board first? What should I try next? Your help is greatly appreciated.
This is out in cyberspace Cant remember what or where. Do a search for "Maytag Neptune shuts off"

most common issue with these is the door lock assy. You need to remove the control panel and check the R11 resistor on the board most likely it will be burnt. This was a common issue a few years back. If the R11 resistor is burnt you need to replace the door lock AND control board or your problem will occur again.
Hope this helps _MJ_
