Make sure that your patch cables are cumming from the audio line OUT of the TV to the audio line IN on the surround amp. A common mistake on hook up is usually the problem.

SOURCE: RCA Jack snapped off in my surround sound system

These are not necesarily "generic" parts. Because they correspond to the holes in the back, the actual jack part is somewhat unique to the model of the receiver. If you can post htemodel number I'll try to get you the part number. This should not be an exensive part. Figure on $5-$10 or so.

Thanks,
Dan

SOURCE: RC64 remote will not work with my RCA surround sound RT2580

I hate to say it's unlikely that a "Universal" remote from DirectTV has compatibility with every system and manufacturer. However, my directTV model remote (and there are numerous ones) has a search function with which you don't need to enter a code... it finds one for you. If the control documentation doesn't mention such an option (Code Find), then I'd say your SOL. I'd recommend a Universal Remote made for no specific purpose but to be a UR... using a system included UR never comes off very well.

SOURCE: No surround sound

Your not goingto achive true dobly sound you need a HDMI solution for this and hence you dvd player is rather old since it does not use HDMI if you want true HDMI sound you need to purchase a DVD with HDMI outputs to the TV

How to use a surround sound with tv not just dvd

If you have cable/FiOS TV/SATV,than you will have to connect a digital(fiber optic SPIDF or RCA type) form the set-top box to the suuround-sound system to get TRUE surround sound.I haven't come across a TV with this ouput, but not sure if some do.(If you use RCA analog audio cords from the ouput of theTV itself to an input of the sound system it will work, but it will be a glorified stereo sound, not true surround sound.

Is there anyway to play my normal television sound through my surround sound insted of my television?

Hi.What kind of audio output connections does your TV have?
If it has mini jack output, you should use this cable:12_15_2011_7_49_41_pm.jpg
If the output is RCA you should use this one:

I have rca home theater system rtd215 plays dvds fine but no sound when im watching tv programs i have no cable box just the jacks on my tv [52 projection screen phillips] and i tried hooking them into the...

This reson you are not hearing any "TV AUDIO" through your RCA surround system would be due to your tv sound output not being connected to an audio input into your surround system. You can hear DVDs,CDs and radio possibly mp3 if connected, as these are built in to the amplifier which the speakers connect to.
If the tv has a Line out (via phono plugs) and NOT via headphone out, connect it to an audio input on the RCA surround system. If the RCA has no other available inputs, well....there ain't a lot you can do but watch CSI with the sound from the TV and then Star Wars (for example) through the TV and Surround system.
Best Of Luck

I've bought a panasonic sound surround dvd player and want to link it to a sky+ box and tv so that sky will play in sound surround. Can you advise on the wiring configuration please?

look at the back of your tv does it have a audio out RCA jack?
it should do plug in the surround sound into that using RCA cables

if your tv does not have audio out RCA jack then you can

get a adapter which makes scart connectors turn into RCA jacks get that off ebay

plug the yellow line to the tv and connect the red and white to suround sound
but with this there are a few problems sound will only come out when surround sound is turned on and skys sound will never play out the tv
if you switch to a PS3 or something it will not play suround sound

yuo best option is the RCA plugs in the back of the tv

because you have not written the model number of the tv or the suround sound i cant help any further

Plays movies in surround sound great, however tv shows in 5.1 do not play in surround sound.

With no knowledge of your TV source component (cable box??) and how closely you have followed its connection instructions, no one can really help you out. I'm pretty sure you might need to run either an optical or coaxial (RCA) cable into your 'system' for it to decode 5.1.
When in doubt, Read the Manual.

I am assuming that you are using a surround sound system? If so on the back of the satellite receiver you will have RCA cables labled yellow ,red, white uuse an rca cable to run from the output on the back of the sat box to an rca input on the surround sound unit.the inputs should be labled on the back of the surround sound unit.once you have the sat box plugged in look for the output on the surround sound (rca cables) run one set of rca cables to the rca cable input of the Tv.on the original tv remote select the tv input that is the cable from the surround sound is plugged in to . make sure the surround sound unit input is selected to the input that the sat box is plugged into.this will give you surround sound from your satellite receiver, repeat with your DVD player plugging the DVD rca cable output to another empty input on the surround sound.to switch between the sat box (satellite TV) to DvD select another input on the surround sound unit.Try to correspond the units you are plugging into the surround sound to the correct name of the component on the back of the surround sound unit to avoid confussion.any questions,Im here to help.If this works rate me FIXYA! if it helps.GOOD LUCK!
