Question about Yamaha HTR-5940 Receiver

1 Answer

Xm radio I have a strange problem with my XM connectivity, after a couple of months of proper service, my XM radio now will only connect erratically - meaning if the unit is turned off, it may or may not come back on despite it being warm or cold. Sometimes it will immediately return and sometimes only after a few days? The message is No Antenna Connection - but nothing has changed. I have tried tracing the antenna connection and wire but have found nothing wrong. Any ideas on this???

Try with a different XM Antenna from a friend or shop if possible to verify whether it's the antenna or the unit itself.
Visually inspect antenna cable and connection at the antenna and the unit and make sure the antenna cable hasn't been damaged.
I would do this before considering other options
Good Luck!

Trying to hookup XM radio to RX-397; no sound. Which inputs should I be using?

Register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

Anything that has a headphone output can be adapted to feed an RCA cable pair for standard stereo to any audio device with a standard RCA input (except PHONO). Get a cable like the one described here: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10218&cs_id=1021804&p_id=665&seq=1&format=2

Of course, if your XM device has standard RCA outputs, use RCA cables without adapters.

Auto MCACC Screen Appearing

It would appear the unit thinks your McAAC microphone is inserted. Is it?

Automatically setting up for surround

sound (Auto MCACC)

The Auto MCACC Setup measures the acoustic characteristics of your listening area, taking into account

ambient noise, speaker size and distance, and tests for both channel delay and channel level. After you have set

up the microphone provided with your system, the receiver uses the information from a series of test tones

to optimize the speaker settings and equalization for your particular room.

Make sure you do this before moving on to Playing a source on page 11.

Important

• Make sure the microphone and speakers are not moved during the Auto MCACC Setup.

• Using the Auto MCACC Setup will overwrite any existing settings for the MCACC preset you select.

• Before using the Auto MCACC Setup, the headphones should be disconnected and the iPod

USB, XM or SIRIUS Radio function should not be selected as an input source.

1 Switch on the receiver and your TV.

2 Connect the microphone to the MCACC SETUP MIC

jack on the front panel.

Place the microphone so that it's about ear level at your normal listening position (use a tripod if possible). Make

sure there are no obstacles between the speakers and the microphone.

The Auto MCACC display appears once the microphone is connected.1

Note

1 • You can't use the System Setup menu in either the main or sub zone when the iPod USB, XM or SIRIUS Radio input source is selected. When you set ZONE 2 to ON (page 61), you can't use the System Setup menu.
• If you cancel the Auto MCACC Setup, or leave an error message

etc.

It's all in the manual.

Some background on the process...

My Sony STR-DG600 Receiver constantly goes into Protect Mode when using FM or XM.

Check to see if the antenna is firmly connected and not making contact with the receiver chassis or other inputs/outputs.
