Go to the menu and select the icon that allows you to change the voice on your GPS. When selecting a voice make sure it has TTS at the end of the voice name. This means it will say the street names as well as your destinations

My nuvi 275 doesn't have sound

ok a few things to figure out here, Sound..you cant hear any street names, or music

If its street names you must chose a language that has an ending ( TTS ) text to speech

do that by going to Tools.... Settings... Language... under Voice pick one with an ending ( TTS )

next we will try any other sound... is it muted? on main screen press Volume Icon

doe sit have a checkmark in MUTE? if so remove it

If not then on that screen there is FM Trans on bottom of screen .... press it

Enable FM Transmitter if it has a checkmark remove it...... place a checkmark there if you want to hear your unit thru your car speakers

How do I reset my 260w to name the streets

The GPS is equipped to name streets even with voice.
Sometimes this options are disabled by the user.
In the case of the streets, the closer you zoom in, the more detail you get. This would include street names.
Get the manual here: http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/nuvi200_OwnersManual.pdf

good luck

I have a tomtom xxl.s gps does not speak streets name

Not all sound files speak out the street names. If you would like to have the street names spoken, you need to select a voice that ends with computer. For example, the voice file selection: Simon, English UK, Computer will speak street names. But the voice file, Bonnie, English US, will not speak Street names. Dave, English US, computer will give you street names but Lori or Mandy, English US will not.Procedure to get the street names spoken: Tap on main screen. Tap on change preferences. Tap on arrow. Tap on change voices. Tap (select) a voice that ends with computer. Tap select. Tap done till you reach the main screen.

Spoken directions do not give actual street names

Hello, Mike, congratulations on your purchase of the gps. Here's what you should do:

Tap MENU - SETTINGS - REGIONAL.

Choose Voice Profile. This button shows the current language of the voice guidance. By tapping the button, you can select a new one from the list of available languages and speakers. For the speaker to announce actual street names you must select a language that indicates TTS (Text-To-Speech).

To hear a sample voice just tap on any of languages. Tap OK when you have selected the new spoken language.

WON'T SPEAK STREET NAMES

Greetings Seecar,
I had the same problem with the TomTom One. What you need to do is this:
When you select a voice preference you have to use a "computer" voice as it seems the "human" voice cannot pronounce the street names. I don't know if your model has the same choices but mine is set to "Samantha, English US"
Hope this helps
