Leading cause of paper jams is debris/foreign objects that accidentally fell into the paper feed area. Please follow steps below to fix the problem:

1. Remove the sheets of paper from the feeder.

2. Grab a flashlight and look inside the feeder for any debris or foreign objects.

3. If you're willing and physically able, you may also turn the printer over. Any debris should just freely roll out from the feeder.

4. If feeder is clear, place the printer back on the table, open the printer cover and remove the cartridges.

5. Check the cartridge area for any obstructions/debris in the cartridge carrier's path or the paper path.

6. If cartridge area is clear, close the cover.

7. Re-brick your printer. Pull out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds.

8. When the printer turns on, reinsert the cartridges and load some paper. Try to print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

Hi, the paper feed into the printer does not work properly. when printing the sheet will try to deed in, then stop. I can hear the roller still moving until the error lights go off. To get a sheet to print...

get yourself a can of electronic contact cleaner in a arisal can. spray this on a rag and clean the paper feed wheels and the seperator pad (cork piece about 3/16 x 1inch) located right under the paper pick wheel.these wheels get glue build up on them and become slippery the contact cleaner will remove the glue with out leaving a residue behind

My D7460 will not feed paper The screen says load paper face down in main tray.

Usually this occurs when a printer has had fairly excessive use. This causes the rubber paper feed rollers to become shiny and then they are unable to grab the paper, or it grabs several sheets at the same time. Newer laser printers have now have grooved belt tracks to help prevent this problem.

The easiest way I have found is to BUFF the shiny tracks... Here´s how... Using a ladies nail file (sand paper type) Press the paper feed button to cause the rollers to slowly rotate and buff the rubber as it turns. Making sure no sand enters the rollers. If several sheets of paper feed at the same time. Pull them out and a trick to stop this happening is... to fan the paper before loading into the paper tray. The trapped air will allow the sheets to glide easier.

It grabs several sheets of paper at one time

This is most likely a paper problem, the paper is basically sticking to the next sheet, Ensure the paper is stored in a cool dry place helps, dont load the paper with more than what you need for a couple of days and when loading the paper flick the pages to allow air between the pages
If this dosnt work try a different brand of paper

Hi, i have a lexmark x4550. The pick up roller (the roller that grabs the paper and feeds it into the printer to get printed on), is not working, at least one of them isnt (there are two i think,,, but on...

Try the following: take an A4 sheet of paper and glue a 2 - inch strip of sanding paper onto the top of the sheet (full width of the page). sanding paper should be about 120 grain.
Now feed the page with the sand paper first (rough surface on top) into the paper inlet. grab and hold the paper, then press paper feed or send a print job. The printer tries to feed you special sheet, but you won't let go. This will sand off the gunk from you feed rollers and give a bit of rough surface to the rubber. Repeat if needed, it should cure the problem.
This works if the problem is the roller surface, it will not fix a problem with misalignment or a missing/broken spring in the feed roller mechanism.

Lexmark Z715 printer feed paper

The feed rollers might be dirty from the ink. Try cleaning them with a Q-TIP with a little isopropyl alcohol.

Will not Print

Try a hardware check of the printer first. To check the hardware of the printer, do the following:
  1. Switch off the printer.
  2. Load one sheet of paper into the paper feeder.
  3. Press the Power button and the Paper Feed button at the same time and hold them both down for three seconds. Then release the Power button only.
  4. When the printer begins to print, release the Paper Feed button. A page will be printed. The page should contain some text at the top and a series of horizontal color lines (cyan, magenta and yellow) below the text, with a thick black line below the colored lines. All the lines should be solid.
  5. When the test is complete, switch off the printer. NOTE: If you do not switch off the printer, it will continue to print.

Printer wont print

I am sorry to say that it will be more expensive to fix this printer than to get a new one. the only thing you can do is to see if you can get a used one somewhere and use that for parts
