You need to open the appropriate ports so your console can bypass your NAT... If you goto your console manufacturer's web site they will almost always list the ports that you have to open to allow your console to function properly behind a NAT.

Once you find the ports you need to open you can call netgear's tech support and they can walk you through opening those ports. Or you could come back here and we'd most likely be able to help ya.

I cant set up xbox live

Connect to the Internet The first step is to connect your Xbox 360 console to your Internet connection. Here's how:

etherintorouter_300px.jpg
  1. Plug one end of a network cable into a port on your router or gateway. You might need a long network cable, depending upon on the location of your router or modem.

Note If you do not have a router, you can plug the network cable directly into your modem.
  2. Plug the other end of the network cable into the back of your console.
Verify your setup Your setup should look similar to one of the following:

Router connection
connect_router_300px.gif Your Xbox 360 console and computer are both connected to a router. The router is connected to a modem, which is connected to a cable wall jack.

Cant get online when i run a test it fails on playstation net work then afterwards says you have been disconnected from media server

Hi,
If you are using a router, the problem probably has to do with the router. In order to find out, disconnect your PS3 from the router and plug it directly into you modem. If your modem is not near your playstation 3 then move it close to the PS3. The modem plugs directly into your cable line so there is a good chance that the television you play your PS3 on has a cable connection. One you have connected your PS3 to your modem, press the reset button on the modem. Turn your PS3 on and go directly to your network settings. Click on Internet Connection Test (do not bother trying to set up a connection manually) If you are getting a connection then you are ready to go.

Thank you!

When testing the connection for xbox live it can't find the IP address.

Hi,

Xbox 360 Connection Tests: IP Address
This test verifies that your Xbox 360™ console has a valid IP (Internet Protocol) address.
If your console does not pass this test:

Confirm that there are no other devices on your network with the same IP address.

If you are using a router or gateway, verify that it is configured to assign IP addresses to network devices (DHCP-enabled).

If you are connected to a router, make sure that your console'sEthernet cable is not connected to the router's LAN port rather thanits WAN port.

If you are connected directly to a modem and your ISP (Internetservice provider) requires PPPoE settings, verify that your PPPoE username and password are correct. If your ISP doesn't require PPPoEsettings, remove the PPPoE user name and password settings.

If you are connecting directly to a modem and have replaced a devicethat was connected to your modem with your Xbox 360 console or anotherdevice, turn the modem off and back on before connecting the newdevice.

If you are using a static IP address from your ISP, verify the address with a your provider.

If your console is connected to an ad-hoc network (in which devicesare connected directly to each other), it will probably not pass thistest. If your IP address is assigned automatically and your ad-hocnetwork does not include a DHCP server, this does not indicate aproblem. The test is properly reporting that a DHCP server could not becontacted. Xbox Customer Support does not support the use of ad-hocnetworking to connect to Xbox Live.

If you're using an ad-hocnetwork without a DHCP server and you can't connect to Xbox Live, checka different diagnostic test for the root of your problem.

This comes from http://www.xbox.com/en-US/support/connecttolive/xbox360/connectionmethods/troubleshootliveconnection-testipaddress.htm

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

How to connect my usb modem to the ps3

Recommendation:

Get a Modem and a Router in order for both computer and PS3 to be online at the same time.

PS3 assumes that it is connected to a router/gateway and is not designed to have a modem directly connected to it as would need additional hardware/chips incorporated.

Xbox live

Hi you will need to either do the following:

1. extend the dhcp leasing function within the router by increasing the time for the lease, usually this is in minutes
2. manually assign the ip address so ud ont have this problem ever again
3. renew the ip address via xbox 360
4. it could just mean the xbox live server is temp down.

good luck

smeags.

Playing ps2 online

Zilla This may not be an issue on your side. Try the following, if it still doesnt work read what EA told me .. LOL First, please check to make sure that your PS2 is connected directly to your Cable or DSL modem. If you are using a router, check to make sure that the router you're using is official supported by Xbox Live. Now if your DSL or Cable modem connects directly to your PS2 already, try power cycling the modem itself. This means unplugging the modem from the wall, waiting one or more minutes and then plugging it back in. Restart the system and try again. If at this point it still does not work, check to make sure that the ports specific to Xbox Live are opened up on your Internet Service Provider's end. These are the ports that need to be open in both incoming and outgoing directions: UDP Ports: 88 & 3074 TCP Port: 3074 NOW This can also occur if you are using a Gamertag that was previously linked to another EA account. Most often, this occurs when someone creates a Gamertag and links it to an EA account, but then has their Gamertag deleted. The Gamertag then becomes available for another player to use, but is still linked to the EA account in the EA system. When this happens, the server looks to verify against the old EA account and fails. The most common errors recieved are: 'An EA Server is not available at this time.' 'The EA Servers are currently unavailable.' Although a more comprehensive solution is being looking into, you can get into the game immediately by creating a new Gamertag to link to your EA account. If the Gamertag is not already linked to an EA account, you will be able to link it and play without issue. If you would like to be alerted of any new information concerning this issue, please use the Notify EA on this link (http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=11681&p_created=1143153073) Should you require further assistance about this or any Electronic Arts games in the future please visit our website and review our extensive Self Help knowledgebase (http://support.ea.com). Now I did this and it worked for Madden and Battlefield for 1 week then it happened again. Heres what EA told me. Thank you for contacting EA technical support. I am sorry to say that we are experiencing issues with the BF2:MC servers at this time. Connectivity and clan features are there but you may experience sporadic availability to getting into games. As for filing incidents, "unresolved," means exactly that. This incident was not solved. This is no means of brushing a problem aside. I apologize if there is a misunderstanding. We plan to have these issues resolved as soon as possible. Sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused for the time being, and thank you for your patience! Please respond back if you have anymore technical issues concerning this matter. Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts! Tak EA Tech Support www.ea.com support.ea.com www.ea.com/official/battlefield/battlefield2/us/home.jsp Hope this helps a little :0)

Ps3 wired connection prob.

I can't be certain, but does your ISP rewuire the hardware connecting to it to have a certain MAC address (i.e. the one used to first 'activate' the Internet connection)? If so you may need to 'clone' the MAC address to get online either by a router or some other method.
