Red power switch

The red power switch needs to be held down for the vaccuum to work.

I'm having the same problem, everything is tightly in place, but power button will not stay pushed down. I don't recommended this vacuum at all, have had too many issues with it since day one.

You either have a bad switch or your handle has come loose. in several cases with this vac the handle comes loose and the vac will start acting funny. if you look at the back of the handle and start looking down the first screw you see make sure its tight.

Chalk up another loose (missing) handle screw fixed the won't come on problem. It was working fine, turned it off and put it away, next time we went to use it, it was like a fuse had blown. I read this thread, took a look at the handle screws and sure enough, the top one was missing. Thanks Al Gore, for inventing the internet!

This was the solution for me too. The handle wasn't visibly loose, but I tightened the top screw and the power went right on. Many thanks

Had the same problem with having to hold down the power switch to keep the vac running. I thought I would have to fix or replace the power switch so I removed the handle and then found this post when searching for parts and solutions. Simply reinstalling the handle solved the problem and the power switch now works properly. The only screw that holds the handle in place is the upper right screw of the two that are between the two cord wraps.

My wife was wigging out that her vacuum was not turning on. I thought the fuse had blown but it was a quick fix with a screw driver tightening the screws and the vacuum came right on so before you throw it out try tightening the screws first. Thank god for this website

I have the same problem, the ON button won't stay down. However, for me tightening the screw has not worked, so I took a look at the product manual and saw that the vacuum came with a 2 yr warranty. Then I got the receipt and saw that I had purchased this two yrs ago to the day so I figures this is the last day it is in warranty, better call the manufacturer. I called the 1800 number in the manual and spoke with a Bissel rep (did not have to wait, was not put through the endless loop of automated messages) who says that the machine actually comes with a 5 yr warranty and that she'll send me for free a whole new handle, which includes a new button assembly. I am not affiliated in any way with Bissel but I love this machine and was impressed by how easy my problem was solved without the long wait times I have come to expect from other Customer "Service" Departments.

Plush carpet setting on vaccuum?

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

DC41 Animal's cleaner head is designed to self-adjust to different floor types - so you don't need to bend down to adjust a dial. You can see how this feature works in the video below. In addition to this, next to the red on/off switch you'll see a silver brush control switch, which allows you to turn off the brush bar for hard floors and delicate carpeting.

Carpet manufacturers sometimes recommend vacuuming certain types of carpeting with the brush bar turned off - we'd suggest checking directly with the manufacturer of your carpets to ensure you're cleaning them correctly.

If you'd like any further advice on using your DC41 Animal, please email us at askdysonUS@dyson.com and one of our experts will be in touch as soon as possible.

Best wishes,

Jack

On button won't stay depressed. when pushed to on, the vaccuum goes on but won't stay on unless button is held down.

Needs a new on/off switch. You can order one from an appliance parts store, and replace it yourself or take it to a shop.

Gen 3 model Kirby vaccuum won't start

Checked your bag if they are full, if bagless check your filter. If still not working maybe the protected temperature fuse blown out. You need to open it and replace the protected blown fuse.

How do I detach the cloth bag from my Kirby G3 Vaccuum to wash it

I would clean the bag by blowing it out with compressed air (lightly). If you do wash it, do it by hand in room temp water and air dry. I'm not too sure how to remove the whole bag on that model. You should call your local vacuum dealer to inquire, and ask the same question you asked here on Fixya.

Bissell 6900 stopped working how do I open the thing?

Bissell 6900 Digipro ON OFF Power Switch failed. I found the wire connectors for the power switch were corroded. I fixed this by soldering the wires directly to the terminals leading to the motor. To access the circuit board and the on.off power switch I pryed off the cover for the on /off power switch and the cover for the cord retraction leaver. The covers are held on by two tabs that extend under the red cover on the top of the vacuum. Push the switch cover away from the red cover while prying the cover upwards, You may damage the two tabs on the switch cover, as I did, but afterwards, the cover went back in place and appears to work okay. WARNING: This is a home made repair of a 120 VAC circuit. If you are un qualifued to do this repair you face serious risk of a faulty solder and fire inside the vaccuum cleaner. 4fd9446.jpg78baa14.jpg
