1. Find a spot with a clear view of the sky.
2. Turn on the GPS.
3. Enter the coordinates you want to go to, while waiting for the system to get a fix. (30 seconds to 12 minutes)
4. Once fix is acquired, and your waypoint (destination) is entered, follow the compass indicator to travel to your destination.

Problem: My Magellan Triton GPS Does Not Attach the My PC.

Problem: My Magellan Triton GPS Does Not Attach To My PC.

Solution Applies To: Magellan Triton 200 300 400 500 1500 2000 and Windows Operating Systems XP, Vista (32 and 64 byte) and Win7.

Author Note: This is a problem that can happen to any user. This test will confirm that your GPS is not the problem but that the problem lies in the installation of VantagePoint or the Windows Operating System.

Testing Procedure:

The trick is to first make sure that you can attach the GPS to the PC.

This test is simple.
uninstalled the VP and delete the c:magellan drivers directory. Go into c:program filesMagellanVantagePoint and delete the VantagePoint directory and all its subdirectories.

Now do a hard reboot. This is where you completely shut off your computer.

Reinstall VantagePoint 1.94.[You can find this program on my website]

After the installation do another hard reboot. This will set up your registers.

Now look at c:magellan drivers to make sure that the directory has been recreated. Go to VP LITE ICON on the bottom of the screen do a right click and uncheck the Lite start up at boot and QUIT.

Now so another hard reboot.

With VP TURNED OFF and no other Magellan Programs running. Attach the GPS to the PC and turn it on and select under MENU>>VIEW>>SETTINGS .. Connection "Connect to PC". [You may have this choice when you first start the GPS and it is attached to the PC.]

If you CANNOT CONNECT at this point to the PC then you have a corrupt ID software on the internal memory.

If so, return to the unit to the dealer or Magellan, it is defected.

No map data availble

Your Garmin GPS has an internal memory or an SD-card that contains an "operating system" and "map data".The operating system is like windows or Mac OSX. It contains the menu and everything the GPS displays. The "map data" is a digital roadmap the GPS uses to calculate your route. If the map data was on a SD-card that was inserted in your GPS, it could me that you lost the SD-card. That could be the reason your GPS can't find the map data. Sometimes it happens that when people connect their GPS to a computer to update the "operating system" of the GPS something goes wrong. For example, when you disconnect your GPS from the computer while the update software is still writing data to your device, the connection gets lost and you're left with corrupt files on the GPS. It could also be a defect in the internal memory of the GPS. I suggest you try to update the operating system with a program called "Garmin Express" (just google and easy find it). You need to connect the GPS to your computer with a USB cable. Then you can perform an update. I hope it helps to solve your problem. What you could also try is to soft reset your GPS. To do that, you need to remove the silver or blue frame around the screen of the GPS (it pops off). Behind this border there is a reset button.
If the map data is completely gone, and you don't have a backup there is only one solution: Buy the latest map for your GPS online and download it to your GPS. It's expensive. In that case it's better to buy a new device in a shop. Most new devices contain Lifetime online map updates (model name nuvi -then the number - LM or LMT) (LM= Lifetime Mapupdates T= Traffic information) Then you can update your map data every three months if you want.

GPS on screen says no application found please go to sky recover

The basic operating system of the GPS has become corrupted. The unit is instructing you to go to the companies website to re-install that operating system. There should have been a cable in the box that allows you to connect your computer to the GPS. If you go to the manufactures support page on their website and choose your model number on their menu system, the website will then allow you to download the operating system. Then you will run the operating systems install program to have it copied to your GPS unit. There should be clear instructions on their site on how to complete the process.

Thank you for the opportunity to assist you in resolving your issue. Should you need further information or assistance please do not hesitate to let us know.

All Garmin users,

There is no easy solution for this except to return your unit to the nearest Garmin outlet. You need to have very special equipment called an E-Prom burner or writer which only Garmin have. With this equipment they re-programmed (restore) the operating system back on your specific Garmin unit and model.

The problem why anybody can't do it is because there is no way you can access your Garmin unit from a pc or mac if the operating system is lost or damage on your Garmin, for the simple reason your pc or mac can't reconize the device that is pluged in, because there are no communication platform between the two devices.

As simple as that, life with it or send your Garmin gps to an autherized professional Garmin dealer.
