These screw on the front of the plastic lens adapter and adjust the focal length. On the side of the adapter lenses it will quote the ratio. My wide angle says 0.66x so just multiply the range of focal lengths by this figure and you will see that it adjusts the camera zoom accordingly - making the image wider and probably also increasing the depth of field (what is in focus). Similarly a 1.5 tele will inrease the range of focal lengths to make the lens "longer" eg higher magnification , useful for astro photography - shots of the moon and terrestrial long distance work but detracting from the depth of field, eg the range of distance over which objects are in focus will be reduced.

The wide angle will allow you to come in close and get WIDE objects fully in-frame- hence "wide angle", while the telephoto will give you better overall maginification of the image but will probably increase the MINIMUM focal length - eg you may not be able to focus on objects closer than >2m (instead of ~1).

The screw-on adapter lenses I found were cheap in a Jessops sale use a 52mm thread, while the S5500 provides a 55mm internal thread. I use an appropriate 55mm to 52mm step down ring adapter. There is slight vignetting (shading around the edge of an image) at certain combinations of zoom, but generally these are very useful accessories.

As these are adapter lenses on the front of an already powerful 10x zoom that must be optically compromised at the price of this camera, there maybe some colour fringeing around bright images. If you want a better solution you really need to get a DSLR. Overall a good solution for the price.

Can i change the lens of my camera model Fujifilm FinePix HS10

While you may not be able to remove the fixed lens on this camera, you can still add other lenses on top of it, like a telephoto or wide angle lens. An example of lens accessories you may purchase for this model can be found here.

I have a vivitar 62mm camera lens, is there any value to this lens? It was used on a Cannon AE-1 35mm camera.

That is one peculiar focal length- in fact, I think you have given us the filter thread size (62mm diameter fitting filter). So I can't comment on the lens as I am not sure what it is.

There are some Canon digital cameras that can take the lenses from the old SLR film camera range, so if this is an interesting lens, like a zoom or telephoto, it might be worth something. Most film camera stuff now is unwanted, unless it is collectable. A Vivitar lens with a Canon mount is not collectable. These were less expensive third party lenses, not the top whack Canon made ones.

Purchase Zoom Lenses

Canon currently makes super Telephoto lenses from 300mm to 800mm and a number of zoom Telephoto lenses from 28-300 to 100-400. You can also special order a 1200mm lens from Canon at a cost of $99k! (There are only about 20 such lenses made so far.)

You can also get a 1.4 or 2x teleconverter to further increase the power of a telephoto lens. However, the cameras are unable to auto-focus when the minimum f-stop exceeds f/8, which can happen when you use one (or both) of the teleconverters on these longer lenses, so you have to manually focus the lens.

You can also get telephoto lenses from other manufacturers such as Tamron and Sigma that are built to work with Canon cameras. However, the Canon lenses are generally regarded as the best quality.

I want to add lens to my fujifilm s5600 to take better pics

There are lenses available to add with an adapter ring. I have the wide angle lens (which I LOVE) and a 2x telephoto lens. The wide angle lens allows me to macro from several feet away. It is an amazing lens. The telephoto lens is something you really need to use with a tripod. But yes, there are lenses you can add to your camera.

I have an SP 510 UZ digital camera. I have just bought a new telephoto lense, but I can't seem to get the existing lense off the cammera. Help!

Hey john42hockey,
The lens on this camera is not removable. What you need to attach the telephoto lens to your camera is to get a 43-55mm Step-Up Ring, and a CLA-1 lens adapter tube. You should first attach the lens adapter tube to the camera, and then screw the step up ring into the tube and then screw the telephoto lens into step up ring. I have included a link to the manufacturer where you can purchase both the step up ring, and the lens adapter tube incase you need these. I hope this helps!

Epson 3000Z in "sports" mode

With the telephote lens, I am assuming that the camera is a bit more sensitive to any form of camera shake. My suggestion, when using the telephoto lens, is to manually set the shutter speed to its fastest setting (that, or set it to "sports mode"). Also, experiment with the telephote lens using your tripod. Set the camera up on a table and use the timer so that the camera will snap the image automatically. See if the picture is still blurry. If you don't have a tripod, just place it flat on the table.

Telephoto lens for digital camera

It will not work because it is the wrong thread size. Here is info on the Olympus TCON-17 lens for the 5050: TCON-17 (1.7X) Telephoto Conversion Lens Extend the capabilities of your digital camera with the TCON-17 Telephoto Converter lens. This telephoto lens will increase the magnification of your subject by 1.7x when your camera lens is set to the telephoto position. This will help you bring in the subject when you can't get closer, for example, shooting sports or concerts. Please see below for additional items required to attach this lens to your camera. The following models require the CLA-1 and 43-55mm Step-Up Ring: C-2000/2020/2040/3000/3020/3030/3040/4000/4040/5050 Zoom ....... The video lens is too small (diameter). If you found one with a 43mm thread and put it on the 5050, you would experience severe vignetting (clipping of the corners of the photo).
