Question about Krups XP4030 Espresso Machine

Open Question

Krups XP4030 Steamer won't steam

The brewing process for my XP4030 works great, however, after switching to the steamer (and waiting the allotted amount of time,) I would turn it to the steaming function but all I get is a weak, weak drip.

I have done two descalings trying to fix the problem but there is no improvement.

It would seem that there isn't any proper gathering of steam, or the steam will not reach the steamer itself.

This started happening a month after we got it... returned it and got a new one. Only used it a dozen times or so in 11 months and started happening again. I didn't have the reciept so they wouldn't fix it AGAIN. Basically useless for steaming... wont buy another Krups again.

SOURCE: water wont flow past brew head

Hi there, it sounds like your boiler may be full of scale. There is a copper tube which runs from the group up inside the boiler which can get clogged up quite easily. When you take the group apart you will see that when you remove the shower plate and unscrew the bolt in the middle the safety valve and spring will pop out and then if you get a pipe cleaner or something similar and ram it up through the copper pipe. If this does not work then you may have to dimantle the boiler and give it a good clean out. Also although you say the pump is primed it could still be broken. All these problems usually come from scale though. If you get some descaler and try to feed into the boiler by pumping or running water out the steam wand this may free it up. Any further assistance please get in touch with David at coffeeservice@live.com

Mr Coffee Pump Espresso machine not working. Lights alternately flash between coffee and steam icons, machine makes noise, but coffee does not brew, water does not flow, steam does not come out.

The espresso portion may be clogged with hard water deposits, and the steamer tube with casein. Run a tank of plain white vinegar a couple of times then run a couple of tanks of plain water to flush the vinegar, Open the steam valve while the espresso portion is running and set the steamer pot under the steamer. Don't be surprised if a long white tube of hard white material slides out of the steamer valve. That's the casein, actually a form of organic plastic.

The milk steamer is not frothing. I have tried cleaning and descaling

If it does not produce steam when you switch to steam mode and wait for it to heat up, the steam thermostat needs to be replaced.

My milk steamer is no longer steaming. Some steam comes out but not enough to steam the milk. The expresso part is working fine as I recently used a Krups descaling kit on it.

From your message that it is clear that the steam is coming but it is not sufficient to heat the milk, so kindly call the customer care to sort the problem as you can't do it

Thank you.

Not frothing milk

that means that the steamer is not generating enough pressure steam.

This happens either because there is not enough heat, or if you release the steam when pressure is not enough.

Very common problem with the american maid makers.

bear also in mind that Krups are not the best at frothing milk, and this is also a basic model.

If you want the best capuccino Coffee machine, buy the italian ones, Gaggia, Delonghi, Ariete etc. that are all great at this, or get a bigger Krups as a replacement like the Krups XP405040 that is also good at capuccino

Can't Prime Water Circuit

Hi You need to switch Steam ON so it heats up and then turn Steam button OFF (no light) and then turn steamer knob counter clockwise you will hear the pump start up and then water will stream out. This is when it's primed. Turn steamer clock wise to close. You must do this everytime you use the steamer.

Steam Nozzle

I've only had it fly off once.  I think I didn't put it all the way on.  Also make sure you clean the nozzle every time you use the steamer.  Milk will clog the nozzle otherwise.  My maker is right beside the sink and I rinse the nozzle immediately after steaming milk.  I also run it through the dishwasher at least weekly.  (This isn't a substitute for immediate clearing of the nozzle.)   A clogged nozzle will always blow off the end.

Hi, we have a Krups espresso machine, model fnd1. We can't seem to make the milk steamer work, it will make the milk REALLY hot, but not foamy. Do you replenish the steam supply somewhere? Is there a...

suggestions include very cold milk.  having the nozzle just barely in for frothing.
On my model there's an air passage in the nozzle that foams quite nicely.  If you have that too, it might be clogged with milk.  You have to keep these clean with every use.

Steam frother

1. Pour in vinegar instead of water. 2. Bring vinegar to a boil but do not run it through the machine. 3. Turn off machine for the machine for an hour. 4. Remove sheath from the steamer. 5. Place tip of steamer into large mug of cold water. 6. Turn espresso machine on and allow vinegar to run through steamer.
Optional: Before starting the process, unbend a paperclip or metal hook (for hanging holiday ornaments) and use it to clear the steamer orifice.
It may take the vinegar a little while to dissolve and loosen the blockage. If the process does not work the first time time, try again later and allow the warm vinegar to sit in the machine longer.
