My brake light on a 2006 Vue is coming on randomly as if there's a short because it doesn't actually stay on. It's more of intravenous flashing, and then the light and dinging sound goes off & stays off. It does it inconsistently & then completely stops. The parking brake is NOT engaged, I have checked it multiple times. My brake pedal is unaffected, there is no difference in braking and is working normally. Is there something actually wrong w/ my brakes; will the system notify me if my pads are wearing out?

Brake light is controlled by a switch on the brake pedal arm. The switch needs adjustment or be replaced.
Hope this helps.

Park brake light goes on

it sounds like that might be a short in the wiring somewhere, I'm not an expert on cars and trucks, but being a computer geek, usually when something pops on randomly and or stays on unexpectedly, it tends to be a short in wiring somewhere, however I would recommend getting a second or even a third opinion on this.

Have you driven thru any big snow piles/drifts/berms or deep mud etc? It sounds like your ABS sensor is/was damaged.

Get the EXACT code and reply.

I have a 1996 Nissan Quest XE and am experiencing problems with the brake lights randomly staying on. For the most part, the brake lights turn off when I let go of the brake pedal but rather frequently...

Make sure that the wires to the brake switch are not getting pinched. If you press the brake and the problem goes away, then the problem has to be centered there in the brake pedal area. The other thing you can check is to make sure that the brake pedal springs back to normal location, if the spring is broken or worn out, then the whole weight of the pedal is going to lean on the switch, turning it on eventually. The brake pedal should barely touch the switch and not rest on the switch.(some brake switches may be different and may not be push button). Either way, make sure that brake pedal is coming up all the way.

Column shifter would not shift. Brake lights aren't working due to blown fuse. When trying to replace the fuse the fuse gets real hot and melts.

you have a short circuit in the brake light circuit or the shift interlock circuit.

Look under the dash at the switch on the brake pedal arm and see if it is burned looking or the wiring is frayed and shorting out.

For emergency, there is an over ride for the shift interlock so you can get car to a shop. Look up shift interlock in index of owner manual for over ride procedure.

I think you turn key to OFF position, step on brake, and pull shifter into neutral. Start car in Neutral, put in gear, drive away.

Remember, you have no bake lights.

Also, check brake light bulbs and sockets in tail lights. A bulb or socket could be shorted.

please rate, thanks

Saturn vue 2006 light stays on constantly brakes stop normally no issues is there a reset of some type

your brake light may be staying on to tell you that the brake resevoir is low on brake fluid.it should be on the drivers side of car up close to the windsheild.and should be marked brake fluid, remove cap and check brake fluid level. if not that, make sure that your emergecncy brake is completely released. this should help.and thank you for choosing fixya.com
