Question about Audio Players & Recorders
Okay. Here is my problem.
I had my ipod connected to my computer, updated my computer (don't remember what) and then the next day...my ipod vanished. It's not found on my computer or itunes. I disconnected it, reconnected it and everything. I reinstalled itunes, restored my computer back to a later date, shut down my computer and turne dit on with my ipod still connected...and i'm getting very frustrated because it can charge my ipod (so my usb hub is working) but it just won't find it on my computer. And yes i have vista...anyone can help??
I REALLY need help. My ipod is sadly my life!
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

You will want to attempt to force the iPod into disc mode before restoring. This should solve your issue.
Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.) Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears. When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
Connect the iPod to your computer; the screen on the iPod will change and say "Do not disconnect" If you are having difficulty putting the iPod model into disk mode, set it on a flat surface. Make sure that the finger pressing the Select button is not touching the Click Wheel. Also make sure that you are pressing the Play/Pause button toward the outside of the Click Wheel and not near the center.
If you are still unable to put your iPod with a Click Wheel into Disk Mode, use one finger from one hand to press the Select button, and one finger from the other hand to press the Play/Pause button.
Please let me know if this did not resolve your issue. :)

You might want to try holding the top button and the home button until it turns on, then let go of the top button. Keep the home button held down until the "Plug Into iTunes" picture comes up. You should be able to normal restore now. If this doesn't work, just go get it repaired.
