Can you be more specific about which web page you are trying to get to
that's asking for a password? Are you referring to a username/password
required to connect your computer to a dial-up internet? Or a password
that a web site is asking you to enter in order to log into that
    website?

If you are asking about connecting to the internet with a username and password, the only way to retrieve it will be to call your internet provider's tech support line and ask them to reset it.

If you have lost your password to log in to your computer, you can purchase a piece of software that will help you reset it. The software costs about $50.0USD, and you can find the full instructions on how to do this on another post I answered:

Best of luck,

We have purchased a new notebook{higrade brand vista OS} to replace a packard bell using XP the XP laptop connected no problem the newone finds the belkin router but won't connect to the internet are...

Do you have a wireless security protocol enabled, and if so, what? Install a wired connection to the router (use an ehternet cable to connect your laptop's RJ-45--looks like a wide phone plug--into one of the Belkin router's network jacks). Go to the router's management page using your web browser (probably http://192.168.2.1). If you have not previously set the password in your router, simply leave the password field blank and CLICK "Submit". If you have previously password protected your Belkin router, use the known password. If you have forgotten your password... you'll need to reset your router.

Reest Router: there is usually a small hole into whiuch a pin or paper clip can be inserted for this purpose or a small button to press. Most Belkins--IIRC--have the button.

Once you are on the Belkin router's management page, look for the wireless link and set your security protocol to match what your wireless card is capable of, set the password, save and exit. Use the sasme password in configuring wireless networking in Windows.
