Intermatic has repair parts that are sold by model number of timer.
Suspects include loose wiring, bad circuit breaker, bad timer clock motor, bad timer.
1) Key things to check are loose-or-burned wires, manual override lever operation, and clock dial rotation.
If you have T104, then test across terminals 1 and 3 for 240Volts.
For example if manual override lever is broken and loose, then buy timer mechanism without replacing box. If clock is not rotating correctly, then check electrical circuit and/or buy clock motor.

OK, I have rplaced the timer motor and it appears to have fixed the problem. However, I believe that I have the wires hooked up incorrectly because even in the "off" position, the pump motor buzzes. Can you please provide the proper wiring instructions for the timer.(preferably using wire colors. There are two black and one white wire) The motor is 240V.
(1) These timers can be wired many ways. Open following link for wiring options:http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-... (2) Fixya site sometimes add space to end of copied link that must be removed before link will work (3) The pump motor should not receive any power when override lever is in OFF position. (4) John makes a good point about overheating pump turning itself off. Bypass timer wiring so pump is ON full time, and then observe the pump (5) Also check circuit breaker for crackling sounds that indicate shorting, and for smell of burning.

Are you certain the timer is turning off and on and not that the pump motor is overheating and turning itself off and on despite the timer remaining on? Your motor has a built in overload that will turn off the unit if it gets too hot.
No, I'm not sure which it might be. I was just assuming that it was the timer. I'll look further into it. Thanks.
