Question about Presto Crock Pots & Slow Cookers
I purchased a vintage Presto pressure cooker Model 606 from Ebay. I have been wanting a pressure cooker and this one was in good condition but after I got it I do not know how to use it. I have used one with the different weights but this one only has one weight and I do not know what it is, do I use it just like the other ones I have used. Heat it until the weight starts jiggling then lower the fire until it just jiggles now and then. I know this sounds stupid but I am afraid it will explode if I do something wrong. So please have a good laugh on me but still let me know how I am to use this. Thank you very much for the help.
I have an old presto. The single weight is usually a 15psi weight. Cooking times vary with different foods and you could easily find a guide on the internet. Usually use about an inch of water, place in food, cover, and heat on high until weight starts jiggling. This is when you turn down heat until weight only jiggles 2-3 times per minute. This is also when you start timing the cooking. Hope I've helped,
