You may have your keyboard set to Italian or Spanish configuration. The shift of the 2 is a quote mark on my Italian friend's laptop.

My laptop which is an acer the wirless is saying its off and i cant go on the internet

Seeing it's an acer, there should be a switch on the botom of the computer that when locked will show a lock and visa versa. You just slide it to the left or right. Hope this helps.

Display on laptop screen

You may have inadvertently pressed the correct hot keys to change the display around. In the bottom right hand corner of the screen you may have an icon for your graphics. If you click, or right click you can get the properties up. You should be looking for something which refers to screen orientation ie from landscape to portrait or vice versa.

Monitor not coming on

First check to see if you have a Funtion button that looks like it has a desktop pc on it and a screen next to it...this button, when pressed with the "fn" key switches the display from external to internal and visa versa...if this dosen't work..then you can try to connect an external monitor to the vga connector to see if the video driver is working ok...if you get a picture,,,then you will need to have the laptop serviced for a dead screen problem...another possibility is that the backlight may have become defective on the laptop and there againg will need to have it serviced

My '' and @ keys are switched on Acer aspire 5732 Z laptop

This could be a problem with the Language / Keyboard Language, try setting a different language in Regional Options -> Keyboard Language and switch to another one from here.

Moniter will not show

Attach a external monitor to the laptop, it will have a VGA connection on the back or side. You will need to press, function and one of the F keys, F5 or F8 which are standard ones. So function and an F key. This will rotate the display from the laptop to the monitor and vice versa. If you get the display on the external monitor then you have an LCD or inverta(controls power to LCD screen) issue.

If there is no display to the internal or external, then you have a bad motherboard.

Hello. I have just bought an Acer Aspire 6920 Laptop. The problem is when i need the @ symbol I get the " symbol and visa versa. I have selected United Kingdom as my keyboard layout. What's going on?

Hello Bobster079,

Here is a couple of things to try:

1) Get into the Bios and set it to default setting (may be F9 button), then save setting. Then reboot and try.

if this does not work, then move in to next step.

2) Hold down and press the "fn" button and press the "Scroll Lock" button. This works like a toggle switch.

Hope this is helpfull and good luck.
