The answer is....
Run your lamp in economy mode and it should work fine, also use compressed air to blow out fan and cooling fins from the unit frequently from the openings on the unit. I have always run Eco mode and it never overheats except when turned off a few times! Also the color wheel gets stuck on dust so I have to blow it out frequently.

What are the pros and cons of operating the Quadrafire Mt Vernon AE pellet stove in manual mode?

They probably cannot suggest running it on 'manual' due to liability reasons....leaving home for an extended time and forgetting its on manual...comes to mind.

What may be suggested is to make sure ANY and ALL safety controls still function to shut off fuel (pellet) flow in the manual mode as an extended overtemp condition is the first thing that comes to mind when you think of damage to a heating system or to the structure within which it is installed.

I think its a judgement call on your part once you determine you pretty well KNOW the full and complete operation of the device. The key to that statement is KNOWING WITHOUT A DOUBT the FULL operation of the system.

I also would NEVER recommend to a customer to operate it in the manual position.

FREQUENT SHUT DOWN

Overheating When the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are clogged with dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed air to do this.

Furnace shuts down before heat temp meets thermostat. Furnace unit starts frequently. Service installed new limit switch and a new circuit board but furnace unit continues to malfunction. Same problems...

has any one checked your thermostat. as soon as the furnace shuts down then turn up the stat and see if it starts right up. i would think the stat function should have been checked also.

Amana dryer not advancing on auto

Make sure the vent from the dryer to the outside is clean.
Reduced air flow can cause your symptom.

You can remove the vent hose from the dryer and operate the dryer in the automatic cycle.'
If the timer advances you know the vent needs cleaning.
Clean the lint filter housing also.
A flashlight helps to see all the way down the housing.

I have a Rowenta Pro. Iron, model DE-86.1A with auto shut-off. It sticks on auto shut-off. I have to move it around for it to heat up, as indicated by the sensor light on the top.

I believe that is how the safety feature works.

Once the iron detects no movement for a certain period of time (the iron assumes you have finished ironing) the iron will shut of the heating element.

One you have moved it around, the timer should prevent it from auto shutting down for a period of time.

Auto shut down of unit

the audio amps may be overheating and shutting down. a lot of electronic devices don't receive heat sink compound when being assembled and the heat doesn't transfer as it should. Try cooling the unit either in a plastic bag in the refrigerator or placing it in a cool airstream directed at the rear of the unit. If it's in a stack of other electronic devices, place something between the units to allow air to circulate. I hot-melt glue tinkertoy wheels to the bottom of the units myself to separate them.
