Login freeze-up HP Pavilion Media Center m8530f PC

I just purchased an HP Pavilion Media Center m8530f at Best Buy. After one month, the issues with a frozen log-in screen occurred. I called HP and they referred me and referred me and referred me to various techs. I spent hours on the phone with each of them explaining how the PC after shutting down, could not start up again….because there was just no way to get logged on due to a frozen mouse and keyboard–--after all efforts, all techs resorted to having me restore it to it’s original factory settings..(what a pain in the @$$—in which I lost hours of my previous downloaded programs= Trend Micro Security, and Microsoft office),…this happened at least three more times…repeat, repeat!!! The computer would shut down after updates and then restart freezing at the login. And the repeat process/solution (restore to factory settings) from all of them —long term functioning would'nt ever last. Finally, the HP people told me they wanted me to ship it to them for fixing (would take several weeks), but I thought to myself…here I spent over $1,700 and I have to go without a PC I need for my business. Sorry, I told them I wouldn’t put myself out for their problem...anymore. I advised I would return it to Best Buy. I did go back to Best Buy, I ended up arguing with a Best Buy tech in order to make the exchange as they were reluctant to take that route (I'd purchased an extended plan with their so called “Geek Squad” who wanted to fix it themselves). Again, I had paid in full for a brand new PC and I wasn't about to go without so they could waste more of my time trying to fix it. I feel as if I've lost my faith in the whole Best Buy, & HP system of taking care of customers. Finally, after they realized it was a "hard drive problem" and they didn't have the parts/ they had no solution for, I was offered the exchange for another HP Pavilion Media Center m8530f PC.

Today, unfortunately, I've just experienced the same frozen log-in problem after shut down and restart again, with the NEWLY EXCHANGED HP Pavilion Media Center m8530f of only three days old! BEWARE to you out there who want to purchase this model from HP! Can you believe this? Second time this happened to me concerning the same model!!! Now, I’m forced to go back to Best Buy (a two hour trip both ways) and return it again, but this time I'll be insisting on some other PC model.

I was wondering if there is an HP Desktop PC that someone is having good experiences with (2008)???? I will be using it to download pictures, email, watching DVDs.... Thanks for any help you may suggest… signed Totally tired and disgusted, but wanted to warn you.

Note: I consider myself an experienced PC operator and do not want anyone else to go through what I’ve had to go through. The Best Buy was in Salinas,CA . And the HP helpline was 1800HPINVENT.

First of all, dont go with a name brand and you wont have to deal with the company BS. you can build (or have built) a better computer from someone like tigerdirectdotcom and save a couple hundred dollars. granted you will have to buy an operating system for it , but you will want a system disk to reinstall the next time it crashes. Remember.. it's not IF your computer will crash , it's WHEN. I would be happy to recommend some parts or at least a barebone starter box if you tell me what you want to use the computer reason for overkill..

Will not power on

if all fan are spin up.
see your RAM, maybe its broken.
a computer need a routine checking all RAM, if its not good, your computer will freeze.
try pull out and put it again. if its doesn't work. replace it.
PS. when you pull out your computer with all RAM pulled out and doesn't heard any BIP BIP BIP (BIOS POST CODE) noise. I can Assume your Mainbpard or ypur processor is broken. maybe its sound scary but its not. see for computer service center to help, they can give you good advice.

I can't open my dvd drive on hp pavillion m 8530f pc desktop. Drive is visible by computer, can't find the little paper clip hole to open the drive physically

There should be a flap door on the outer casing, use your nail to pull down the flap from top, this should expose the internal dvd drive, now insert paper clip in the hole to pop the door open and pull out.

I need some type of system recover because my comp keeps starting in the blue screen and not getting to the desktop. this is due to my removing some things from the start up menu in the control panel

You need to reinstall Windows and for that all you need is the Recovery disk that came with your pc when you bought it. Beware , save your files with the help of a Linux Live-CD before doing that or they're going to be wiped.

Everytime I turn my computer on it will freeze

You have a corrupted registry, try rebooting and depressing the F8 key to access safe will see a black and white screen with boot choices.

Choose "best last boot config" reboot and hope for the best.

If still no go reload windows with the disk and choose option "Reload windows WITHOUT FORMAT". It will replace windows and retain all you saved files. HOWEVER, you will need to reload all other programs, eg Office suite, games etc

Upon turning on my HP Pavilion Media Center it freezes at logo.

press F10 and format the pc with inbuild pc recovery and if it does not works then format your pc using the recovery discs given to you by HP.

M8530f will not startup!!

try restoring it to previous dates by going in accessories folder and then system restore

HP KT334AA Pavilion Media Center M8530F will not POST. No beeps or monitor activity. Fans spin and that's it. The system froze and I had to manually shut it down, now nothing. Monitor works on another...

hello, below are few trouble shooting steps you can try.
1: open up the tower case and reset BIOS by removing the battery from the motherboard and switching jumper position. try turning on computer.
2: remove RAM sticks from the PC power on PC see results for any change, if no chnage stick one stick back at a time(if you have more than one) and then try it again.

post your results back and we will look to further troubleshoot the issue.
