I have a Samsung smart tv and a yamaha RX-V592 there is no optical or hdmi on the reviever. I really would like to listen to my tv in surround sound. What can I do?

You need a new receiver, that unit will only do Dolby Pro Logic and all 5 speakers will play but you have to use the composite audio cables(The red and white cables for audio) to get the audio into your receiver and the yellow is video which you can run thru the Yamaha as well if you want any on screen adjustments that unit may have and refer to your owners manual http://download.yamaha.com/api/asset/file/?language=en&site=usa.yamaha.com&asset_id=35288
Net unit make sure it as least 5.1 and you can get Dolby Atmos on a few select models but whatever you get make sure you can pass you video signal thru with HDMI cables or component at the least, a couple of years ago I went from the Yamaha R-V1300 to their RX-A3020 and couldn't be happier, the new one which is the Yamaha RX-A3040 has Dolby Atmos but whatever you get and you are only running it at Dolby 5.1 at least each speaker will be discreet unlike in the Dolby Pro Logic mode you will be running, and 5.1 means 3 speakers in the front and 2 in the back or on the rear sides, so that is your 5 the .1 refers to the subwoofer because it get a one tenth of the signal the rest of the speakers can do so 6.1 means 3 in the front and 3 in the bab plus the .1 subwoofer. My system will do 11.2 but I will be just happy with 7.2 but until I move into a house I run it at 5.1. godd luck and feel free to hit me up with any questions...

Speakers not playing

The problem can be the cable or speakers or RX-V463 or settings. Need to check one by one.
Set the RX-V on DTS or Dolby Digital
1) Check Cables - connect the 2 (surround) cables from RXV's Centre Out to Centre speaker. If the Centre speaker works, then cables are ok.
2) Check speakers - Connect each Surround speaker to RXV's Centre out. If it works Speakers are ok.
3) Check RXV - Set it on DTS or Dolby Digital
Connect RXV's surround out (one at a time) L and R to the Centre speaker. If there is no sound, the problem could be RXV's settings (I need to read the manual).

Hope this helps.

My receiver switched from dolby digital to pro logic, but I cannot seem to get it to switch back. It is connected through optical audio to a motorola qip7100 hd receiver. i know that the channels are...

Check the settings in the Motorola to make sure it's outputting Dolby Digital instead of PCM stereo.

Indicators on the receiver can tell you if you're receiving mutlichannel audio or not.

Can i plug in my i-pod and listen to it?

All you need is either a dock, which will keep the I-Pod powered up, or a 3.5mm plug to two RCA phono leads, which will also be needed for the dock, this plugs into your headphone socket of your I-Pod and the two RCA's into an aux socket on the JVC. You can then listen to it in Dolby Pro-Logic. You won't be able to listen in Dolby Digital, unless the I-Pod has Dolby Digital output, which will require a different lead.
Of course the sound source (music) would have to be recorded with Dolby Surround, to get the full benefit, but many are, they just don't say in the imformation given.

Your PS3 probably has a setting for what digital bitstream it produces. Check it out. Dolby Digital is probably what you want.

Right now my reciever will only play with two speakers (L and R). How do I get the 5.1 DTS back?

Are you using single digital coaxial or optical digital or the stereo RCA cable.
You might have that buttons on the remote for surround,2channel,3channel or 5.1 channel. orGo to the DVD's setup menu and click on "Audio Setup" or on "Languages" if there is no Audio Setup option and choose "Dolby Digital 5.1." (If you have a5.1, 6.1 or 7.1 system select "Dolby Digital EX" if it is an available option.) Depending on the age of the disc, the "Audio Setup" on the DVD menu may give you several choices: "5.1 Channel Surround Sound" or "Stereo Playback." If it's an old DVD, it might even say Dolby AC-3 (the professional designation for Dolby Digital 5.1). New DVDs may offer "Dolby Digital 5.1" and "Dolby Digital 2.0," the latter being stereo. Some of the disc menus offer only "Surround Sound" or "Stereo" options.

DENON 1508 - If i switch on DOLBY PLII I here cracking sound

The Dolby processing IC has failed. The noise you are hearing is digital noise. There is nothing you can do with this other than sending it in for warranty repair. They will change the surround processing board and return the unit to you. Since it is cheaper for them to replace the board, the individual "parts" that failed will never be known. I have changed these in the field before. As a warranty service center we are required to change the IC first. Sending it in to the factory, they will just swap out the board.

Hi again BJanke,

Yes it is. The part description "TUNER/DOLBY PCB" indicates function such as RF tuning and Dolby processor. Your tech is also correct in calling it an "RF board" since it is a generic name. Additionally, you can perhaps inquire from www.gvibes.com to provide yo with an image so as to compare with what you have.

A question pls, if you think that my solution has provided you with appropriate information, why was the solution of somebody else given the "FixYa" rating?

Jvc rx-5020v dolby digital problem

Also...If your BluRay player only has a optical output for audio you will need to swap the inputs on the JVC rx-5020v. Press the "settings" button repeatedly until "digital in" appears on the display. Now use the "adjust" up and down buttons until DVD is selected as option 2. It will look like something like: 1CD2DVD Note: this may bugger any other previous setup you have.
