Question about Polar F6 Wrist Watch

Strange symbol I had an "eye" like symbol pop on, during exercize, today. It was to the left of my calorie counter. I can't find ANYWHERE what this may be! Can anyone tell me? I was wondering if it was video taping me (heh!). Thanks

I have the same thing. It started three days ago when I started swimming. It's only when I have the watch timing my exercise, and only when I'm swimming. It's on the left side and looks kind of like this ( | )

I had the same thing happen to me while hiking the other day - I got this strange "eye" next to the left of the timer. I've used my watch 3 times since and it hasn't happened again. I noticed that it started right after I had pressed some buttons trying to lock the watch, but I still haven't found the solution to the problem

The same thing happened to me, and here is what I found in an online user manual (but not the one delivered with my watch). Switching the Backlight On
Press the Light button and the display is illuminated for a few seconds.
After you have illuminated the display once while exercising night mode symbol (MY WORDS HERE : the "eye symbol") appears in the display. The display automatically illuminates each time you press any button or bring the wrist unit near the Polar logo on the transmitter, until you stop recording the exercise.

First you need to understand that the Polar system is a medical grade device and it is calculating calories based on specific information that you have inputed and heart rate data from your heart.

Most treadmills and other exercise machines use a much simpler counter that is height and weight based to calculate calories and are generally over generous with their numbers.

Depending on the blood pressure machine you are using, the pulse (not heart rate) is coming through the brachial artery, again not quite as accurate as measuring r-r variance from your heart. There is a ton of literature you can read if you are into the accurateness of the system, but I will sum up with saying that you actual calorie expenditure will be closer on the Polar than on most other devices outside of a hospital. As too the heart rate this is also true, so more likely you are getting inaccurate numbers from the other devices.

If you want pinpoint accuracy then you will need to use the Polar RS800 or S810 devices that measure and display true R-R.

The heart rate function has turned off. So the calorie count won't work. Everything else is working fine. It happened about four days ago. I have lost my owners manual.

Press and hold the reset button, for 5 seconds, while in Time mode. this will reset the heart monitor and the symbol will reappear on the screen.

Hi,
Without knowing how hard you have exercised (heart rate) it wont be able to calculate how many calories you have burned.

My sportline watch resets itself during exercise , and reset everything back to zero even the date goes back to 1-1 always. Everything stops counting, steps, calories, mph, miles walked, everything

I don't know this watch personally but it sounds like it may be a short circuit or maybe one or two of the buttons may be being activated during a particular movement. I'd recommend you take it to a watchmaker for diagnosis.

I have the timex fitness trainer and it is calculating my calories for a man and I need it calculated for a woman. Help!

Simple! men and women burn calories at the same rate. And the more muscle you have the more calories you will burn to conduct an excersize. And the more fat you have, the more calories you will burn from fat.
