At first, they just messed up and show a screen from a tetris program I installed. I deleted all the files that came with the tetris program and now pressing either button goes to a blank screen. I can enter values to be graphed, but the graph won't display anything except a cursor when I hold down an arrow key.
I enter an equation on the graph such as x^4-3x^3+6x-1=0 into Y1 and Y2 and I get an "ERR; INVALID DIM" but no graph.
Please help I have TI-84 Plus
even when i have all of the coordinates in, my graph doesn't work, it just says 'invalid dim"

You must Press the APPS button, Select Inequalz and press Enter. The new Screen prompts you 1.to continue, 2. Quit Inequal, 3 About. Highlight 2: Quit and press Enter. The application will be removed from RAM, not the archives. Here are some screen captures
To draw a graph, it helps if you know approximately where it is going to show up so that you can set up a window.
Press the [Y=] button
Enter the following equation: 5*x^2-5*x (five x-squared minus five times x)
by pressing the following calculator keys:
x^2 (x squared key)
x (key labled x,t,n) in between the ALPHA and STAT keys
now press the zoom key and select #6 - ZStandard (this will give you a standard zoom)
You should see a parabola drawn on the screen.
If you enter in some equation and do not see it on the screen, you can try zooming out (zoom key)
or setting up your display window, using the window key.
This is where it helps to know where your x and / or y intercepts are.
From there, you can use trace to move around the graph, 2nd+graph (table) to see your x and y intercepts.
This error show up when you are graphing out of the plot menu. If you are not graphing data points from list menu, you need to turn the plots off. In the y= screen, you will see the words plot 1, plot 2, etc across the top of the screen. If one of the plots is highlighted (black box over the words), you need to turn it off. This can be done by arrowing up and highlighting the box and pressing enter. When you arrow back down, the plot should be off and you will be able to enter an equation in the y= lines and graph.
If you are graphing from the plot menu, this error lets you know that one of the lists you are graphing is longer than the other.
Another way to fix the problem is to reset the calculator by pressing 2nd button then plus sign then 7 then 1 then 2. This will reset the calculator however if you are graphing from lists, your data will be erased. Hope this helps.
Hello, Reset the memory to defaults and you will not get the error. [2nd][MEM][7:Reset][Defaults] [2:Reset] [ENTER]. Press [CLEAR] and them [Y=] to enter the function. No need to set Zoom. Defaults work fine for y1= 4X+3. Press [GRAPH]. Hope it helps
It seems that wires got crossed. I suggest you reset all RAM by the follwing steps
Ram cleared will be displayed on screen. [CLEAR] to go to the home screen.
If that does not solve your problem, reinstall the OS. Post a question on how to install OS, if you want, or read some of the posts on TI83/84/89 about same subject.
If nothing works, I am afraid you will have to repair the calculator.
Hit 2nd then the Y= button and you'll get to the stat plots. make sure they are all turned off, sometimes random programs (ie. games) will turn on stat plots and screw up your other programs and graphs.
