If you don't have the manual or disk that came with the printer, attach the printer to the computer with either a USB cable, or a parallel (25 pin D to 36 pin Centronics) cable. Turn both on, and wait to see if it autodetects. If not, and assuming you're using Windows, go to "Control Panel | Printers | Add Printer..." and follow the prompts.

If all else fails, visit the manufacturer's web page, and download both manual and driver.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Simply disconnect the printer from your computer (if USB connected)> reboot your pc > unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to your computer (if USB connected). Then try to print again once the computer fully recognizes the USB connection or when the WiFi light on the printer turns solid green (if WiFi connected.).

If that doesn't help, try the steps below:

  1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer from your computer.
  2. On your computer, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes.
  3. Delete the Lexmark print object.
  4. Reboot computer.
  5. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply - black box where the power cord is plugged into on the back of the printer, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
  6. When the printer turns on, reconnect it to the computer.
  7. Wait until your computer fully recognizes the USB connection. To check, go to Control Panel > Printers and Faxes. If you see a new Lexmark print object in the list, try to print a document to verify that the problem is fixed.

You may also try to update your printer driver by visiting the Lexmark website at http://bit.ly/aNGYmW. Select your operating system, download and execute the file.

Wi-fi connection has stopped working. Green light is steady but will not print. Get message saying the computer and printer can not connect.

You need to plug in the original USB cord that came with the printer. Once that is done, try again, the computer should re-dectect the printer. If it doesn't, then a security setting on your wireless has recently changed. If so, then you need to re-run the setup that came with your printer.

I just took my printer apart. The connector was broke where the sheet feeder connects. It was the electrical connector on the printer and not the sheet feeder.

I took the connector on the bottom of the sheet feeder (to be used for additional sheet feeders) and swapped it with the one on my printer. Put it back together and it is up and running.

Hard to explain, hope this helps.
