Hello! I had to reinstall windows xp, on my computer. Now when I tried to load my games back on, Some of the disk are not working. The green light comes on and I can hear it spinning, but the Icon never changes for the drive like it does when I load the other games. The disk that are not working are in very good condition, no scratches or smudges. I had downloaded Drive Boost, before I had problems with my computer. Drive Boost put windows Vista files on my Windows XP... So I ended up having to reinstall Windows... Windows update put windows 7 firmware updates on my Windows XP... I uninstalled the firmware update. I then pulled up the devises menu and uninstalled the drivers and updated the drivers. I still get the same problem of some of my games will load, where I had no problem before Drive Boost... Thanks for your time, Don Wise.

> check the disk

Check for scratches on the media.

Also, it could be "bad" RAM in the computer that is creating "random" problems, which could be reported by the B.S.O.D.
If the computer has multiple sticks of RAM, remove one, and try again.

Samsung r40 not loading xp

If the computer boots in to safe mode fine, you more than likely have a virus or spyware interfering with the boot process.

Windows also could have corruption on it.
Insert your windows XP CD and boot the computer, you may need to set your boot order in BIOS so tht CD is first.

Once the CD loads Run the recovery console Select 1 for the C: drive if it asks for a password this is generally blank or will be the password on the "Administrator" account you see when you boot to windows in safemode

Once in the recovery console do a chkdsk /f command
This is will check for errors on the disk and can fix a lot of boot issues
I would also suggest typing the command mbrfix to replace the master boot record.

If it still will not boot you may need to reinstall windows xp

Computer restarts on the loading screen.

ITs the problem with the video card and memory, try reseting the memory and install direct X controller and update the video card drivers and then try to install it

How to reformat acer aspire one

Put a Windows XP disk (has to be the full version not an upgrade) into the CD drive and the computer will ask to "press any key to boot from CD". Press a key. Follow the prompts, It is important to delete the partition when asked. Then recreate it. Format the drive with NTFS file system. The setup will go on to reinstall windows automatically.

Now, the only challenge is to reload any software drivers for components Windows does not find automatically. This is a little tricky. Do google search of Acer drivers or go to www.drivers.com.

Also, remember all your software programs need to be re-installed. For example, your Microsoft Office (word, excel, etc). Any games, any virus protection, Quickbooks, etc. The printer software also needs to be re-installed. Hopefully you still have the original disk or if its a Hewlett Packard go to their website.

Cd drive not working

One thing you can do is in device manager, delete the device, reboot the computer and see if it finds the device and reinstalls the software for it. If it does not, there is a high probability that the drive is bad or the IDE controller in the computer has failed. Windows XP is no longer supported.

Hello the hard drive of our laptop needs a full reformat so i can reinstall xp but how do i format it without a working opperating system? thank you

 You can do a full reformat right from the windows xp install disk.  Put the xp disk in the cdrom drive and restart the computer.  Upon restarting a message will come up ( Hit any key to boot from CD )  Hit any key,  the files will load then you will be able to format the hard drive and also load windows XP.
    If for some reason your system doesnt boot from the cd, you might have to go into the Bios and change the boot order from the hard drive or the floppy to the cd so the computer will boot from the CD first. Hope this helps...                                                           Joe > Data Miner <

Error on windows load

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /NoExecute=OptIn
This is what the boot.ini file should look like. Use U'r recovery disk to create or edit the ini file as above. U cannot use DOS 6.22 to create this file if U'r system is formated in NTFS.
If U don't have a recovery disk, make one from someone else's XP computer (DOS 7.xx).
