This is a CRT based TV that seems to be having a problem with vertical deflection. If you have no experience with TVs, I'd suggest that at a minimum, you get a detailed repair estimate. Post the results of that here and we can help you to decide whether or not to fix the set. Also, we may be able to walk you through the actual repair. Unfortunately, this type of problem is not easily diagnosed remotely. Additional visual inspection as well as measurement is required to determine the exact problem.

Please keep us updated and we'll try to assist where we can.

    The
    Monitor

So first off you will need your monitor. Most LCD
monitors are constructed the same way, with a cold
cathode bulb as the back light source. A plastic
sheet acts as a lens that refracts the light from
the edge to the front of the screen and through
the LCD panel. A small 12V inverter provides power
to the bulb. As the bulbs get old they can have
a hard time starting, lighting at all, flickering,
or even putting out a strong pink colored light

    The
    Replacemt Backlight

Cold cathode bulbs can be hard to come by new and
unused, and they can cost allot ordered from resale
vendors. So we looked to case lighting for the source
    of our bulbs. Xoxide
has an excellent selection of them with the inverter
for about $9.00 and a couple bucks for shipping,
    and so does lcdparts.com.
    A good 15" kit will provide a bulb for a 15" monitor
just fine! I have been able to find 17" kits as
well as 19" kits. But most likely you wont have
to replace your inverter, and that will save you
    a couple bucks.

One note on power tools: use them at your own risk. Be sure to read and
understand any and all documentation on the tools you use. No amount of
documentation can make up for experience, but there are many people with
serious eye injuries at the school of hard knocks. If you don't know what you
are doing, don't do it and find some one that can help.

Why does the power button blink on and off and the TV doesn't turn on?

There may be an open internal fuse or the power supply may have failed.

TV shutting down, lamp and power light blinking

I would try a new lamp. Lamps have varying qualities & usage conditions may cause varying life spans. So, even though the lamp may be 1 year old I would try a new one first.

My phillips 60 inch tv 60pl9200d/37 wont turn on the power button flashes blue

Look in the manual. (Page 4)

Turn the TV on From main supply: Ensure that the main supply is turned on. A blue indicator light on the front of the TV lights up. When the TV is turned on by the main supply, the blue indicator light will blink for 45 seconds. This is the lamp's start-up period. When the light goes off, press the POWER button on the remote control or power switch. Press POWER to turn on the TV.

Your convergence board is faulty. Common problem for this model. Pull the back cover off and look to the north and look for a jumper jack [1516 i beleive] and pull this off. [TV unplugged of course] Now plug in the tv and power up...If the picture is distorted you have bad convergence ICs. If picture is good...you may a bad audio IC. You can do this, just be dang careful and good luck to you!

Have sound but no picture

First make sure to hit the menu button on the TV's remote and if nothing is there then friend while the set is on turn a bright flashlight on and shine at angle into the set push the TV menu button if you can see a image then your back light is not working.
You can also check the transformers they are close to were the wires plug into the panel, make sure all transformers read the same amount of resistance if not you have found a bad one. Now you will have to check to see if the power supply is sending 24v to the backlight, if not the power supply is bad. Cost backlights around 150.00 and power supplies around 100.00. Well this should help you friend.

Philips Projection tv will not turn on

Not trying to offend you here at all, but ....
1. Plug something else into the same outlet and verify that the outlet works.
2. Look at the power cord for any damage like wear and tear near either end of the cord.
3. Once its plugged in see if you can turn it on using the power button on the front panel (not the remote)
4. If it came on using the power button then there is not a problem with the TV.
5. If it did not come on then Sorry I can't help.
6. If it did come on then make sure the "tv" button near the top of the remote (assuming its the original remote) was pressed before pressing the power button on the remote.

This is a common problem with this kind of tv. When you give the unit power the green light will blink because it is telling you that the projection lights are warming up. Sometimes it will take up to a minute. When you hit the power button again after only 5 seconds it told the tv to power off. I hope this will help you out.
