Can someone help me update firmware on a F5D7230-4 Belkin Router? The router web interface never finds a new version. Also, when I download and try to update from the Belkin site the update always fails saying the file type is wrong.

Are you sure that the firmware upgrade is specifically designed for that version and revision of the gateway you are using┬┐ There are usually so many different versions and revisions of a product that it may be confusing exactly which firmware upgrade to download.

what is the filename of the file that you are trying to load on the router? Are you trying to load it using the router's setup page or through TFTP?

SOURCE: Updated Canadian firmware

check the exact model of your router with the version number.. it can be found underneath the device itself.. you could also check the firmware on the router's page by accessing it, then go to the status tab.. on that kind of routers, if the firmware ranges from 1.50.0-1.51.2 you need to upgrade that because it gives you a problem.. the latest version is 1.52.2.. those are routers of version 5 and 6.. you can download the firmware at www.linksys.com/downloads.. select NA and usa first then type your model number and select your version number.

You will ahve to log on to the web interface of the modem to find out what the firmware you have is.. See if there is an option to upgrade automatically. Else, look on the Verizon website. That might help

Hi there, i can't install my updates for belkin Share wireless router, during the installation it keeps rebooting my computer...

What do you mean by installation? Are you trying to upgrade the firmware on your router and are you going through the Belkin Router Manager icon in your system tray (right-click/check for updates)?

Also if you already downloaded the firmware update, make sure you update from a directly connected computer and not over wireless.

As far as the rebooting goes, if that doesn't help then depending on your Operating System if it's windows, you can check the event viewer to see what error is being reported. Go to Start, click Run and type eventvwr.msc then press Enter. Under Applications or Applications and Service Logs, you should see a recent error for the application. That will lead us to why it's rebooting.

Hi Thanks for taking the time to help if you can. My problem seems to be that I dont know what software to use to download the firmware update program for the router could you give me your suggestions...

You never need to use any software... just connect any one of your computer to the router using an ethernet cable and type http://192.168.2.1 in the internet explorer... It will open the belkin router interface...

On the far left hand side below the "Utilities" you will have an option called "firmware update"...if you look inside that option you will have an option to browse.... click on browse and locate the latest firmware file and update it... Thats it you are done...

The latest firmware has to be downloaded from belkkin support site...

Download the firmware for the version that you are using. (File is less than 5MB). Save it in My Documents
Open the router page by typing in the default gateway in the address bar of your browser.
On the left hand side column, under UTILITIES, click "Firmware Update"
On the login page, leave password blank and click submit.
Click on browse, locate the firmware file in your My Documents and click Open.
Now click on update.
After updating, unplug power for 3 mins. from router and plug it back in.
**Now if this doesn't work,
Under UTILITIES, click on "Restore Factory Defaults" and wait, it ll count down and after that, try to re-configure the router for your internet connection.
This will work 100%, all the very best my friend.
